Give 'em the SLIP!

Happy Monday!

While detangling my hair yesterday, I used the last of my Kinky Curly Knot Today before I could get through the rest of my head. So, I ended up detangling with KCKT on the right side, and Hello Hydration on the left. If you remember my product trial from a while back, it was definitely a similar situation- I was able to compare two 'detangling' conditioners side by side for slip (that sea-weedy feeling that eases detangling) and moisture. Needless to say, both conditioners detangled extremely well, but the Hello Hydration imparted far more moisture.

So, for everyone's reference, please leave your favorite slippery conditioner in the comment section below. I'm always down for trying out a new detangling conditioner, especially one that gets an awesome review from one of you gorgeous gals!

Here's my list:

Definite Re-purchase:
Herbal Essence Hello Hydration
Paul Mitchell or Generic The Detangler

Great detangler but probably won't repurchase:
Kinky Curly Knot Today
TIGI Moisture Maniac

That's all I got for now...if I think of more, I'll come back and post :)

Later and don't work too hard today!
Nik

Trader Joe's Nourish Spa conditioner. It's amazing! I use it as a leave in too.

At your recommendation I purchased Hello Hydration and I simply looove what it does for my waves! (3a on top, 3b in the kitchen) However, I've noticed that my scalp is really itchy and dry-flaky at the hairline. Do you (or anyone else) recommend a scalp treatment? I don't want to stop using HH but my scalp itches and it's tight!

My fave by far is Pantene R & N Deep Conditioning Mask and Intense Moisturizing Conditioner, but I think you've already tried these. I love 'em though, can't move past 'em!

Aubrey Organics Island Naturals conditioner. Turns my hair to butta. Can I even call it detangling anymore? LOL.

I love Hello Hydration as well! For my little curly I use regular Cholesterol to detangle her hair. When I would detangle her hair before I went natural and did some research we would lose a lot of hair. I appreciate blogs like this one because now she's a lot happier that her little head doesn't hurt when I detangle :-)

I havent tried HE Hello Hydration , but I do use the HE Long Term Relationship and None of Your Frizzness (which I believe has been discontinued). Love HE Conditioners.

And ditto to the Generic Paul Mitchell Condish--detangles like a dream- I use it on my bf's daughter waist length 3a hair, and shes so tender headed and this definitely gets the job done!

I've done similar comparisons with HE Hello Hydration, HE Totally Twisted, and HE Hyrdalicious Reconditioning Conditioner. Hello Hydration gets the job done, but Totally Twsited and ESPECIALLY Hydralicious is the TRUTH in terms of both detangling and moisture. Look into it!

Hi brownshugahgirl,

Where do you get it and whats the name of Generic Paul Mitchell Condish, I hear a lot about it, also does it have any cons? thanks a lot

I prefer Trader Joe's Nourish over the Herbal Essence Hello Hydration but the Hello Hydration works well. I've been curious about the new HE conditioners (with the swirly colors) so I may try those next.

I tried Hello Hydration and thought it was good but must say nothing can beat my Fav Tresemme Flawless curls condish!! Now that has slip! I use for my washes and as leave in!

Hello Hydration is my go-to conditioner. Actually I use it alone for co-washing, mixed with oil and water for a light leave-in, and mixed with a variety of oils, aloe vera gel, honey, and water for a heavier leave-in. I get a lot of use out of the big bottle!

My favorites are the inexpensive VO5 Moisture Milks as well as HE Totally Twisted, Hello Hydration, and None of Your Frizziness. My hair also enjoys Elasta QP DPR-11 and Aussie 3-Minute.

So far my fave after shampoo detangler has to be Jessicurl Too Shea. LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff for detangling! I used to use Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner and It did a good job but I noticed that over time it just wasn't doing it for my hair anymore. So I tried the jessicurl too shea and that stuff literally melted the tangles right out of my hair and left it feeling so soft! I didn't have to do much work with my goody add+shine therapy brush at all!

I enjoy using the HEHH for co-washes but for after my shampoos Jessicurl is the way to go for me.

I've used Suave Tropical Coconut mostly for co-washes, I absolutely love KCKT especially as leave in...my hair don't like the HE Hello Hydration. I kinda want to take it back to Target for refund. lol

My current absolute faves are:

1) Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner

2) Silicon Mix Conditioner-dominican conditioner (This one has mineral oil, which is so bad, but just the smallest amount gives great slip)

Organix coconut milk and shea butter conditioners are wonderful.

Anonymous,

Generic is a Sally's Beauty Supply Store brand. You can find Generic's brand of Paul Mitchell Detangling conditioner there.

1) Kinky Curly Curling Custard
2) Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut

Last night tried Karen's Body Beautiful Luscious Locks Moisturizing Hair Mask and Hair Milk and both have tremendous slip. A definite repurchase.

I have used Hello Hydration and it was ok, but I try to stay away from conditioners with cones.

I'm in love with Hello Hydration! I'm glad you gave us the work about KT because I was planning to get that! I guess I'll stick to my good ole Hello Hydration!

If not for the fragrance and the amodimethicone I would go for the HEHH.
Best cowash with slip - GVP Matrix Biolage Conditioning balm
Best DT with slip - Blended Beauty Herbal Reconditioner - loads of slip
Best conditioner - Curl Junkie Hibiscus & Banana Deep fix; Jessicurl Too Shea
Best leave-ins: Abba Nourishing, Knot Today

I've recently discovered Ausse Moist and I'm absolutley in love with it. its so moisturizing and provides excellent slip. HE used to be a staple in my conditioner line=up but i found that while it helped me detangle, it actually caused alot of knots and snarls.

I recently bc'd and so far I love Kinky Curly Knot Today I apply it right before I hop in the shower in the morning so the steam will hit it them I apply Organics Arfica's Best Shea Butter Plus and my curls definitely have been popping lately!

For a cowash I like to use VO5 Strawberries and Cream Milk conditioner and I just started using Oyin Honey Hemp which can also be used as a leave in...
I'm definitely going to pick up some Herbal Essence though!!!

Ooops, I just came accross this and realized that I meant to say KC Knot Today not the KCCC. Sorry

I read this article and all of the comments and went right out yesterday and bought some HE Hydralicious. Let me tell you, it was AWESOME! I will not repurchase KCKT again. This is my new detangler/leave-in conditioner.

I cosign on Hello Hydration & believe it or not Carol's Daughter *shampoo* with sea moss. With no detergents, the lather dissipates almost immediately and it's more like a co-wash. The feel it gives to the hair is like nothing else I've used. http://www.carolsdaughter.com/product/haircare/shampoo/khoret_amen_shampoo.do

I have very long, straight hair that is VERY tangle-prone and tends to be a bit on the dry side. In addition to using the Hydrate Vibrancy Conditioner in the shower, I also need to use Shielo's Antioxidant leave in conditioner to even be able to comb through it. I have found this awesome Shielo Leave-in that you spray in while your hair is still damp/towel-dried and it makes it SO much easier to comb through with out tugging or pulling out your hair AND it leaves your hair shiny, nourished and fortified - I've noticed a lot less breakage and hair loss since using this product.

Has a very light refreshing scent and I have tried many different kinds of leave-in conditioners. This is a definite must have if you are growing out your hair or if you already have longer hair.
