My experience: Confession-- I was at Whole Foods buying sushi, minding my business, when the Whole Body section began calling my name. I slowly scanned through all the shiny new hair products. Having tried most of the conditioners on the shelf, my eye was again drawn to Kinky Curly Spiral Spritz. I picked it up, thought long and hard, and put it back down. My hair just doesn't like stylers. I heard it's like a watered down Curly Custard, and I'm fearful that it will leave my fine hair limp and crunchy. Just before I threw in the towel, I spotted an unfamiliar green bottle out of the corner of my eye. I'm familiar with Desert Essence Organics. I've read many a rave review on NC.com about several of their conditioners, but had never heard of this Green Apple and Ginger 'volumizing' one. It wasn't very expensive, so I grabbed a bottle and was on my way.
Last night, I shampooed my hair with a product from Afroveda (review coming soon!), and divided my hair into two. I used Desert Essence on one side, and Afroveda on the other. OMG... the slip was out of control! My hair felt instantly moisturized, soft, and detangled with ease. I noticed that it has polyquat-7 in it for some reason (this ingredient provides hold and is commonly found in stylers), so, I left a little in, and I'm more than pleased with the results! I'll provide a report on the rest of my experiment later ;)

Bottom Line: This is a MUST TRY! It has more slip than Trader Joe's Tea Tree, and in my opinion provides more moisture. It's detangling properties are on par if not greater than Hello Hydration. It's 100% vegan, contains no silicones, artificial fragrances/colors, EDTA, or glycol. Oh, and it smells of green apple Jolly Ranchers!!!! I'm having a hard time typing this because I can't keep my nose out of my hair! So my gorgeous PJs, grab your keys, jump in the car, and seek out a bottle of Dessert Essence G&G. You won't be sorry.

Equal or more slip than HH?!? *goggles at the very idea* I just bought Giovanni 50:50 condish last night to try it out, but I guess I'll be at WF next week for this one! Which means I'll actually see KCCC up close and personal for the first time... so I'll probably be buying that, too!

lol! sorry ladies :) I don't mean to be an enabler...really :D

And yes Wizarding Wheezer...it's nuts! I'm truly impressed!!! Try it as a leave-in too. My hair is very smooth. Let me know if you try that Spiral Spritz. I've been strong :)

I have this in my shower right now and have used it for about a month. I will admit that the smell it FAB, but it is a little high for my taste and I didn't feel like it gave me as much slip as TJs conditioners. If it were cheaper and if I could get the smell to last a little bit longer it would be one of my staples, but right now I'd have to wait for a sale before buying it again.

this product (and a bunch of other desert essence products) are at vitacost.com. here's the link to buy this product: http://www.vitacost.com/Desert-Essence-Organics-Thickening-Conditioner?csrc=GPF-718334337029 for $5.02 + a $4.99 flat rate shipping (for everything you buy). it's a good deal if you buy a few other products. i can't wait to try this.

i'm switching to all natural products when i do my 2nd big chop (hopefully my 2nd bc will be the last time i go natural. hopefully i'll *stay* natural this time).

I went to this new health store by my house and sniffed this, so nice. I like the Italian Red Grape even more, I'm so buying it! Can't wait to try it out!

Yeah, your local Vitamin Shoppe will have Desert Essence too...in case the WF is too far away.

Sadly, I just re-upped my vitamin stash and have no $$$ left :gnashing teeth: Another product on the happy hit list to buy!

Oh man Nikki! I love some HH, now I'm going to have to get some of this. Garnie Frutris leave in was my last buy, and I told myself no more for a while. And I already have Tea Tree & HH, my product junkie self is on a roll!

I went to WF last night and checked out the Green Apple and Ginger Conditioner, but didn't buy it. I'd like to try the Italian Red Grape Conditioner so I may go back for that one.

Also, WF will take back an item if you're not happy with it, correct?

I love this product too, thanks for reminding me!

Yes WF takes returns. I bought Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner (made my hair feel like a bawl of hay) and they allowed me to return it for a refund.

It took me a week and 3 WF and finally a Vitamin Shoppe to find this one. I'm about to try it now...SOUNDS GREAT!!!

I'm sorry I was not impressed with this conditioner. This is another clear cut case of 'what works for one may not work for another'. I found it at the vitamin shoppe and it was about 7-8.00 bucks. When I finally got around to using it, I thought the smell was horrible. It seems to try and smell like apples but it comes out smelling like some fake chemical version 'aroma' of an apple, and it lingered and just got on my nerves. I don't know, just the best way I can explain it. Every since I've been natural I am just really in tune with smells and if it doesn't smell right, I can't deal with it. Also I really didn't notice any great conditioning with this one, I rinsed it out and I just was not impressed. I actually like Nature's Gate Jojoba from the vitamin shoppe better, and it has become one of my staple conditioners. It has a nice clean smell and gives me the slippage I need.
