Goody Spin Pin Review

Hi ladies,

I don't know if you've tried these yet, but I picked up a pack last weekend and tried them today. You get two pins. You spin one in from the top and one in from the bottom, making sure not to interlock the two. The pins spun in and out of my hair like BUTTER!! I was surprised that they glided in so easily. What a great, quick way to get the hair off of the face and neck when it's hot! I'll be carrying a set of these around in my purse!

CN says: The Spin Pin sounds like an excellent addition to our Natural Hair Tools arsenal-- especially since we're talking protective styles! It seems to require low manipulation, and reduced tension and snagging (compared to traditional pins and pony tail holders).

Have any of you tried it? Whatcha think?

I love these pins! They are so easy to use, stay in place all day and don't snag hair.

I so want some spin pins! I have checked a couple targets and a Rite Aid, but no luck. Has anyone found them in Los Angeles?

LOVE these things. I had to buy the ones for blonde hair because they were out of brown. DO NOT care! (They are not visible anyway) I LOVE them! Got mine at Target, but CVS has them too.

@ LittleOne they sell them at Target in Los Angeles but when I saw them there was only 1 or 2 left. they are in the accessory isle.

does anyone know if there is a youtube vid on how to apply these in the hair or a video showing hair styles with the pins in their hair

There is a tutorial on youtube. Got mine from walmart last week for $5.88. They are easy to twist in w/out pulling out any hair, I was impressed. Still working on my technique, but I would recommend them. Only thing is they only come in blonde or brunette. They should make them in black too.

I haven't bought them yet because I don't wear buns often. Anyone found any other uses for them?

These remind me of the Sidewinder things I saw on http://beadsbraidsbeyond.blogspot.com.

I just bought mine today, and I used them for an up do that let my curls cascade over the side. It took two of the little screws to do what I would normally do with 10 or so pins, and they don't get tangled in my hair. I love them!

i bought mine at target today. i also bought an updo "u" shaped pin. the brunette is probably fine for most of us because it won't be visible when in and it's pretty dark.

This is Shelli! I was so excited to see my review posted last Friday. However, I am just now getting the opportunity to respond! I really do love these spin pins. They are so easy to use and really do a good job of holding the hair without snagging or pulling! I know someone asked about a tutorial, but you won't even really need it as the only thing you need to remember is not to interlock the two pins. Other than that, just spin! I'm going to try the Princess Leia two bun look soon! I've found these at Target and Harmons. I also purchased the "U" shaped pin for French twists but have yet to try that one yet. Hope all of you who purchased the spin pins like them as much as I do. They really are clever little devices!

If you go to Goody.com you can get the Spin Pin, Updo maker, pony lift and clip, and a bonus volumizer comb for $20. I bought the set and another set of Spin pins from Walmart :D Like CN I think I will carry a set in my purse :D

Can you explain a bit more about how it works or show a video? I don't get it.

I got these a few weeks ago and they've been more useful than I could've ever imagined. I've been wearing them almost everyday to pin my Celie braids or fat twists in up-dos. They're really easy to use. You literally just gather your hair (like you're making a ponytail), twist the hair (like a making a finger coil) and roll it around itself (in the shape of a cinnamon bun or sushi roll) and twist the pin into the roll/bun (like a corkscrew). My hair isn't especially full, so I usually need just one pin for one bun.

I know it looks weird, but it's been my best hair purchase in 2010 and I've gotten a lot hair stuff this year!

I've seen it at Target and CVS (Wash. DC area). It was cheaper at Target.
