Transgendered and Natural

Lisa, a CN reader, submitted this video by Diamond Stylz. There is some *language*, so heads up there, but overall it's a really cool perspective. Plus she has awesome hair and a great sense of humor!

Diamond Stylz writes:

Just my experience with natural hair in the past 6 months as a transgender woman of color. I didn't realize how many people have such strong opinions about hair. It's just hair.

I love her. I often feel people project their feelings about hair on others because they're acting out of insecurity.

This is funny. Great personality. I get the same comments and questions. I chalk it up to that people are "ignorant" about natural hair and havent done the research. They go by what they hear and assume. I try not to take it personal becuz they know not what they do. lol

I totally feel what she said about people giving certain negative opinions so freely on youtube. I think we as a society has gotten so comfortable with talkin on the safe side of the computer that we forget these people that kindly upload vids are not there to be our little hair slaves. I agree with Kristen she is hilarious :)

I love her opinions. It is too true I can definately relate to her. People always want to give you their opinions.

I just found my new best friend in my head!!!! SHE IS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!! Hair, face & personality!!

I have never seen a transgendered woman with natural hair. They have all had long flowing wigs or weaves. I think it is a beautiful thing that Diamond chooses to wear her hair natural. AND IS STILL KILLING IT & looking very feminine & pretty. I love that this video was posted b/c it is just further proof that long, straight hair is not THE standard of beauty or femininity!

She is sooooo on point about the attention. I think it has more to do w/ the hair length rather than the texture.

I know I shouldn't live my life seeking attention from men, but it feels good to be complimented and found beautiful, ya know?

First of all, Nikki you did it again! This post was A-MAZING!!!!!! I LOVE and truly appreciate that you have open the doors for transgendered women to give their own input on natural hair. I saw a transgendered woman on campus the other day and girl lemme tell ya, she was working the hell outta her "Halle Berry" cut!

@Kimmie0810, I agree with you! Diamond is the FIRST transgendered woman I've seen with natural hair also! As a matter of fact most of them are weaved up, lol! I think Diamond looks GORGEOUS with her natural hair! Ugh! She's so beautiful! Her twa shows off her gorgeous bone structure.

On last thing, so I checked out a couple of her youtube videos....HA-LARIUS, lol!! She's so funny and seems like the type of chick you just want to kick back and laugh with (***but you're right Nikki about the language, lol***).

I'd LOVE to see more videos from transgendered naturals....if there are any!

Nikki, it's so wonderful that you've posted this video! Love the perspective, and Diamond is absolutely beautiful. The shape and colour of her TWA are really really working for her.

Funniest I've seen in a while!

Very cool chick. I have to agree with NikNak, I don't think it's the natural look that drives men away but more the length. If we all ran around with natural looking long wigs, we probably could still get the same attention. Men...so obsessed with length, LOL!!

Yes Ma'aeam! Love this video thanks for posting this for several reasons, her interesting feedback and the anti-hate attitude it took post a video of a transgender person!
yay! love curly nikki!

Love this video!! But, I have gotten a different reaction from men. I found that when I went natural, I attracted more men that I would consider being in a relationship with. And I feel more sexy when I am naked and with natural hair.... I feel like this is how I was made and if this ain't sexy, I don't know what is!!!

Wow. Thank you all for so much love. sorry about the language...lol Im working on it. Pray for me...
I think the reason that alot of transgender woman are not natural is because they are following the lead of the natal born woman. Tryin to fit a mold. to blend in with yall.
Me personally I never been the type. I am transgender so I am not a regular woman. I dont want to be. Im a new kind so I AM THE MOLD. So why not have that mold be natural?

Diamond Stylz, you've got to be gettin' a lot of new subbies after this appearance on CN. You're very funny. And I love your hair.

Lol, this made me smile. I agree with you on all levels, but especially with the "sister girl" comment. When my hair was straight the only people calling me sister were my damn siblings, but now I almost think that's my name or something. Also, I do seem to attract the "power to the people" males more, but I think that's a plus cause I like my men deep LOL! Thanks for the video :D

This was great! You go sista!

For me, I get more attention with my natural hair then I did with my long 18inch Remy weave.

Another thing I notice now is that men refer to my hair now. I've had men say "I love your hair!"

I never had a man tell me he loved my weave! LOL

You will grow into your hair, because sexxiness has nothing to do with hair.
