Meet the Curly Caregiver Scholars!

The videos were submitted and the competition... fierce. Below you'll find the Fall 2013 recipients of the CurlyNikki Curly Caregivers Book Scholarship presented by Qhemet Biolgics.

Congratulations to the Scholars and thanks to all that participated. There will be another round soon, so stay tuned!

Meet the Scholars-

Adrienne Smith is a first year graduate student at Thomas Jefferson University.  She will be studying Couples and Family Therapy concentrating in Sexuality.  She shares,  "I grew up in Newark, NJ but will be staying with a friend and her parents while I continue my education at TJU in Philadelphia. From the ages of 16-26 I've been a baby sitter, retail associate, tutor, bartender, telemarketer, health counselor, and sex educator, all of which led me to my passion of helping family and couples in the LGBT community. I plan to become the first doctor in my family and knowing I will make a difference in someone's life makes everything I've gone through and everything I will go through so worth it!"

Latoya Higginbottom is a 4th year student at The University of Akron.  She is a member of The Honors College, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and peer mentor.  She will complete her last year of undergrad in preparation for graduate school to pursue a doctorate degree.  She shares, "I am a huge fan of CurlyNikki.com and everything Alicia Walton is striving to do for us natural girls! Thank you."

Zackery Tyron Perry is a 1st year at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  He will major in Chemistry.  He shares, "I love to meet people and to try new things. I am a Sunday School Teacher. One of my favorite sayings that I live by is "Success doesn't happen overnight, but one night it will happen." -Dr. Jamie T. Pleasant."
