I have diffuse grey hairs and have never used a semi permanent hair color. I used henna once and my grey hair turned a coppery orangeish color which I preferred over the gray. Tomorrow I'm going to use henna with indigo (1:2 henna:indigo) which should color the grey (now copper) hair brown. I'll try and post my results.

I like the idea of henna....but just don't like the red color. My hair is naturally jet black and I love it. Any thoughts on the "colorless" henna..found at Whole Foods?

LOL!!! Ladies thank you sooo much for the compliments and the questions. As for the henna mix, I use "Punjabi Prime" from Mehandi.com. As for the bun: I gathered my freshly DT'd, wet hair, with a BIG rubber band (I know it's a no-no, but it works for me...lol)positioning the hair as high as possible on my head. Then I finger curled chunks of hair (starting in the front and going around) bobbie-pinning them over the rubber band to hide it. To smoothe my edges I used a panty hose head band. Goodie Ouchless headbands work well too. Note: when you uncurl the bun it makes a beautiful curly puff!
