Oh boy. There have been so many that I've lost count! lol. I have a few favourites. One was running into two white girls one night who walked past and ran back to ask if they could touch my hair. They told me 'it felt like what they imagined clouds to feel like' and they loved it! I was smiling for days. My favourite and most memorable one though is greeting my boyfriend at the airport after a very long separation (long distance relationships take a lot of work). After our very emotional reunion, he sunk his hands into my fro and the first thing he said was 'I missed playing in your hair baby. I've been dreaming of this'.

1. One time I was oiling my scalp w/ coconut oil and a girl was like, "you must take the best care of your hair in the world" lol she also said she could never do that (put oil in her hair).

2. One time also my hair was a curly bun and my mom asked me how what I did to my hair, and I just said I washed it and put in a bun! She said it looked more curly than usual =)

I think the most recent best compliment I have ever received was when my boyfriend and I were eating out. After he had been telling me for the entire ride that he loved my hair, the waitress comes over to me and says, "All of them [the other waiters and waitresses] were raving about how beautiful you are and how gorgeous your hair is. Since I only saw part of you while taking your drink order, I had to come get a look at you, and they were right." It was one of those really sweet, but kind of awkward moments.

So, this morning, I put my hair in a BIG puff, after wearing a twist-out all week. Before I left home, I wasn't feeling my hair because it had a white filmy build-up on it. When I got to work, I had three ladies stop me in the hallway and say how pretty my hair looks and how much they love it. Two of these ladies are permies, the other is a natural (that I helped convince to go natural). It made me feel really good, and I'm walking a little straighter now!

The best compliment I got was from a older caucasian man that said "Girl, You are the T R U T H!" It was such a pleasant surprise because I was a little nervous about rocking my 2 strand twist updo. Everyone that I've come across loves it..I was recently at a friends bday dinner & all of the girls there admitted that they thought my hair was a weave or wig when i walked in LOL To me, thats a great compliment !

Well , About Six - Seven Months Ago I Moved To Malden , Massachusetts From South Lawrence, Massachusetts Which Was Already Rough On Me Because I Have Problems In This City . Anyway, I Am Bi Racial , Puerto Rican And White And I Do Have Very Tight Natural Curls That Make My Hair An Afro . When I First Moved Here (malden) People Would Give Me Stares As If I Were A New Species From Another Planet Which Really Irritated Me. Many People Were Veryyy Ignorant One White Male Had Screamed From A Car Saying " Hey Why Dont You Get A Hair Cut." And My Self Being 16 And Walking ON The Side Walk And HEaring That Made Me Think That My Hair Wasnt Cute And MAde Me Feel Upset . So One Day I Over Heard To Girls At My School (Malden High) Talking About My Hair Asking If It Was Fake , A Wig , Or Extentions. So I Asked Them Why They Wouldnt Just Ask Me Instead Of Doing The Little High School Thing , Talking When People Walk Away . And They Told ME It Was Because I Was Light Skinned. I was in a hair supply store a few months ago, and I was getting frustrated with my hair so I was looking for products to help press my very very thick (I'm guessing 3C hair since I have the coil formation the width of my pinky finger). Anyway, I have a lot of hair- whether it's short or long, it's a lot. So I was asking the guy who owned the store for advise on products and we chatted for a while and finally he said "I really don't think you should do anything to your hair. I wish more women wore their hair like you." I was so taken aback because I'd never gotten a compliment from a man on my hair if it weren't pressed or even blown out. I told him that was one of the nicest compliments I'd ever received.

My 9 yr old son also gets a lot of compliments on his giant fro! People go wild for it.

The compliment I loved the most was from a male friend whom we had been discussing a long term relationship. So...he had not seen me since my BC 2 months prior. When he finally made it in town that evening he put his hands in my head and said "OMgosh...I absolutely love your hair. And its so soft" And he played in my hair until he fell asleep. These stories have made me miss my own natural (well transitioning) hair so much! I have a sewn in for graduation and am now proceeding to take it out immediately! My favorite compliment was from my boyfriend. He was coming to my apartment to help me move in and as I stood outside, he pulled up; and as I waited for him to get out of his car, he stared at me before looking away nervously (he had never seen my natural hair before). After approaching the car he let out a huge sigh of relief at the fact that the girl he stared at and thought looked so good was actually me! :)

I was in the NC mountain, in a small mostly Caucasian town. I haven't seen a black person all day and when we went to the grocery store the cashier seemed to have a attitude so I didn't pay her or the others any mind. Can we add to these comments? I spent a wonderful lunch hour just reading through all these, I smiled, teared up...it's amazing to read how much people love natural curls.

My best compliments come from my boyfriend. He just can't keep his hand out of my hair! He is addicted to taking one tight little spiral and stretching it out sloooooooowly, marvelling over how long it is, and then letting it go and exclaiming about how it 'boings' back into place.

It feels really great to know that even on my worst hair days, I can count on him to twist his hands up in my hair and call me his little Diva. Makes me smile just to think about it.
