I’m calling all of my fellow Black women into the auditorium for a quick announcement with my bullhorn in my hand. I am going to say this once and for all: “Black Women it is okay to LUXURIATE”! Yes you read that correctly. I do not know about you; but, growing up in the Caribbean/traditional church community I grew up in, it was not common to see women enjoying- without guilt- the finer things in life. There was a lot of “hmm, that would be nice; but, we cannot afford it.” Or, the ever so and still very present, “Oh I can do it myself.” Even worse if a Black woman took too much care of herself, she would be labeled as “siddity” or “bougie” or in some cases “acting white”. Unfortunately this narrative continues to move throughout some conversations that happen in our society today.

Happy Friyayyy, chica!
I'm messaging you today because no matter if you're a Stay-at-Home Mom, or a CEO, or both (!!!), you're feeling the joy of Friday. So I'm just popping in to remind you that this relief you're experiencing, this subtly joyful anticipation for the relaxation ahead... it was present on Tuesday, too. It was 'here' on Monday. This peace... this happiness is always, ALWAYS available to you. But you only allow yourself to feel it on the weekend, on payday, on vacay, during that first sip of coffee or wine at the airport! But here's the thing-- those events and things aren't causing the joy. The joy is NOW, here, always. Grace is here, NOW. RELAX.

Stay aware of inner Love for the rest of the night! It’s ever-present, and always accessible, even when anger, fear, or anxiety have come to visit. Your job as Consciousness isn’t to stop the ‘negative’ feels, or change them into ‘positive’ ones, but to introduce even 1% of this divine, inherent Love into every situation.

In ‘09, I was all about ‘The Secret’... positive thinking... the law of attraction. My limited understanding led me to believe that human excitement and happiness would ‘attract’ the stuff I wanted, and so I set out on the impossible mission of staying in a super elevated mood. I’d be good for a couple of days, and then frustration, anger, or stress would come to visit and I’d feel even worse, because I was mad at myself for being mad 😂 Insanity.
10 years later, after hundreds of books and countless hours of daily meditation, I came to view both human excitement and human sadness as deviations... distractions from a truer experience. Beneath the thoughts, and familiar ‘good’ and ‘bad’ emotions is a subtle vibration of peaceful-joy. It’s been called your ‘home vibration’ or the way your soul expresses in your body. It’s a God feeling that transcends even your best good feeling. It’s a flow, a glow, a warmth, an unconditional, uncaused loving silence.

With all the thinking go on, what chance does our heart have to breathe, feel, and experience life, no less make contact with our significant others? The crowded mind makes for an overcrowded heart with little room for ourselves and less room for anyone else.
By Bruce Davis, Ph.D. of Silent Stay
I recently read online that each day the average person has about 50,000 thoughts. Some researchers put that number at 70,000 thoughts per day. Is it any wonder with this amount of inner traffic we lose touch with our self? Is it any surprise that with over 100,000 thoughts between us and our partner each day, we have difficulty finding and making contact with each other?

How you start your day can very well determine how it will go and even how it will end.
Kicking off your morning with self-affirmations can be a major game changer for your entire day. It can up that confidence and help you accomplish so much more because you'll feel the strength to do it. I know I've had so many mornings when I just wake up in a funk, and that messes up my attitude for an entire day.

“When you become comfortable with uncertainty, infinite possibilities open up in your life. It means fear is no longer a dominant factor in what you do and no longer prevents you from taking action to initiate change. The Roman philosopher Tacitus rightly observed that 'the desire for safety stands against every great and noble enterprise.' If uncertainty is unacceptable to you, it turns into fear. If it is perfectly acceptable, it turns into aliveness, alertness and creativity.” - Eckhart Tolle

p.s. you don’t have to shift from ‘mad af’ straight into ‘excitement’. You don’t have to grin, or ‘fake it til you make it.’ You only have to feel a tiny bit of the Peace that you are... just a sliver, just a piece of Peace. Noticing the Love, the Peace, the Go(o)d that is present alongside the inner and outer drama... that IS ‘surrender’, the ‘let go’, the ‘acceptance’ that creates just enough space in you for the miracle to happen. ‘Letting go’ isn’t some vague, mystical, or esoteric practice. Just relax, ma! You’re usually all knotted up inside, and don’t know it. ‘Letting go’ is shifting out of the energy of ‘problems’, and ‘confusion’, and into the energy of ‘solutions’, and ‘clarity’. Surrender has the vibe of ‘vacation’, ‘love’, and ‘Saturday morning’. Get it?
Simply scan your body for this unconscious tension and then allow it to release. Breathe... melt... SMILE. When you consciously relax the body, it automatically, and effortlessly relaxes the mind. And when the mind is relaxed, you feel Go(o)d. Keep letting go, stay surrendering, and watch what happens!

Can you hear this picture? Listen...
by Dr. Bruce Davis of SilentStay.com via HuffingtonPost
In silence we can hear our own thoughts. Perhaps more beautiful we can hear the world without the crowded stream of our thoughts. Visiting silence can be an adventure, a pilgrimage, a life changing journey into peace and quiet. We can be quite busy and loud in our attempts to make a more peaceful world. Maybe the peace we seek is not so complicated. Maybe the quiet we want can begin with turning down the noise we routinely live with. Real peace and quiet can be no further then spending some time in silence.
