True Story: I Dated a Guy with a Foot Fetish

By Tiffy Kink

When it comes to dating, I am a huge fan of three things: Openness, comfort, and communication. Openness, meaning nothing is off limits to talk about, comfort, meaning both parties in the relationship never feel as though they will be ostracized for having opinions that differ from the other party, and communication, being able to have an open-ended dialogue where we listen to one another not for the sole purpose of reacting to ones words but understanding them and asking one another to clarify ones point and hear each other out. While I do believe all three are encompassed in the word communication, I don’t believe that many people consciously apply openness and comfort into the dialogues they have with their partner.

So what does all of this have to do with dating someone who is into feet? A damn lot, that’s what.

True Story: The Best Sex I Ever Had Was an Unintentional Hook-Up

By Tiffy Kink

Before we get started, I need you to understand who I am. I like meeting people online, but I don’t like hook-ups. I don’t like the idea of random sex. I’m very boring when it comes to dating to be honest and like things, like my sex life, to be organized. Which is why the best sex I ever had (so far) threw me for a loop.

True Story: I Was Stalked & Harassed by a Man After Three Dates: Part 2

By Tiffy Kink

Part 1 of this story

When my sister and I got home, my mother immediately sensed that something was very wrong. She could see it in our faces. Who would tell it first, my sister or me? As I was about to say it, my sister said it first, I further explained. The look of slight fear came across my mother’s face. Then anger. Not for me, but for the person who dare to put her and her child’s life in danger. We agreed on a course of action that included going to the police station to file a police report.

True Story: I Was Stalked & Harassed by a Man After Three Dates: Part 1

By Tiffy Kink

In spring of 2013, my sophomore year in college, I met a guy on an app. I had only met up with one guy before him out of the many different guys that hit me up wanting to take me out. While I don’t necessarily allow one experience to generalize another, I will say that the guy I met before was okay and we even ended up in a relationship for a while. It ended abruptly, however, when he transitioned into a new religion and I rejected his invitation to join in said religion. And marriage. I was 19 at the time.

How to Not Suffer in Silence

By Tiffy Kink

As a black woman, I think that black people are some of the strongest human beings to ever exist on planet earth. However, we can sometimes be too prideful in ourselves, to the point where we are willing to suffer in silence. We have a tendency to let fear and shame invade our minds and silence us. This forces us to believe that we are the only ones going through whatever we are going through. While I believe that experiences are unique to the individual, I don’t believe that one individual is the only individual to have gone through a particular experience. At least that’s not always the case. And even when it is, there are some ways to help you feel like you’re not alone. Here are 9.

5 Unconventional New Year’s Resolutions You'll Actually Stick To

By Tiffy Kink

A new year is here and for many, it feels like a well-needed fresh start. And with that fresh start, we make resolutions. The biggest problem with New Year’s resolutions is that we have a tendency to set the same damn goals EVERY YEAR. Go to the gym more often, start going to the gym, lose weight, eat healthier, procrastinate less, and be more charitable to others. What makes it even worse is that we set time frames around our resolutions which do nothing but bring about added stress and anxiety, which is why we usually don’t complete them. I also find that as you start to have a harder time sticking to your resolutions, you may start to experience what I call “New Year Burn Out.” This occurs when you’re trying so hard to stick to your resolutions, that it starts to become more of a chore, rather than the inspiring moments you thought it would be. And for that reason, I want to share with you 5 Unconventional New Year’s Resolutions you’ll actually stick to!
