This is the Only Oil Proven to Promote Hair Growth

@iconic_africana

by Fiona of LoveYourTresses

Fun fact-- our hair is likely to grow at a slower rate during the colder months due to several factors.  Check out this post for the full scoop. One of the main factors I mentioned was the slower rate of blood circulation especially to our extremities, e.g. the scalp, fingertips and toes. Of course once I had learned this I had to figure out a way to combat it, and so I did some research and put together this video, on 4 growth boosting techniques to tackle the winter growth slump. One of the techniques shown in the video was the addition of an essential oil to each and every hair product that comes into contact with my scalp. The essential oil in question? Peppermint oil.

Top 10 Ingredients that Stimulate Hair Growth

When there are issues with getting your hair to grow, it’s important to rectify the situation both internally and externally. A number of factors contribute to reduced hair growth, from your scalp being too dirty or your pores being blocked from build-up.

It is true that nothing but time can make your hair grow, but there may be ways to help stimulate hair growth. Check out these options to give your curls extra encouragement.

1. Peppermint Oil
With a fresh aroma, this strongly concentrated oil must be diluted before applying the scalp. It penetrates the scalp and stimulates the hair follicle, allowing for more oxygen production that gives your curls the green light to grow.

Tip:
Apply it directly to the scalp with a gentle massage and cover for 20 to 30 minutes.

Green Tea Rinse for Healthy Natural Hair

  Jensine from youtube.com/junglenaps

Green tea is packed with nutrients that can benefit natural hair in many ways. When used as a hair rinse, it can complement any hair care regimen by infusing antioxidants, caffeine, and panthenol (a humectant) into the scalp and hair shaft.  Here are a few of the benefits of using a green tea hair rinse:
  • Added moisture and shine
  • Reduced shedding
  • Increased hair growth due to the antioxidants and natural caffeine
  • Stronger hair and less split ends (thanks to panthenol)
Typically, it can be used after rinsing your conditioner out and before styling your hair, Depending on your own preference, you can leave it in or rinse it out.

Want to learn how to effectively implement this into your own hair care routine? Check out the video below.

3 Super Simple Rosemary Recipes for Hair Growth

by Shanti of A Curls Best Friend

Antoinette's Results of a Rosemary Rinse

Before Pantene, Queen Helene and Head and Shoulders, women turned to their gardens, woods and fields for plants that met all of their beauty needs. Whether it be a cure to dandruff, premature balding, dull strands or a desire for a new color there was a plant that they knew could meet their specific demands. I think that as the world is beginning to become more synthetic the less we truly understand the implications of allowing such chemicals, toxins and mad men creations into our bodies. It is important to be knowledgeable and at the very least know that there are natural alternatives to every single demand that humans require whether in sickness or health. With that being said, I have begun my research into herbs that can treat and assist in hair. Let's begin with Rosemary. (My source for today's research comes from the book entitled "Back to Eden" written by Jethro Kloss).

Why Rosemary?

Rosemary is very common and easily accessible herb. It is green in appearance with thin, needle-like leaves with a deep, pungent smell. When it comes to it's contributions to hair it seems to be all purpose. Here is a brief list of its uses and benefits to hair...

-Stimulates and improves circulation to the scalp thus encouraging hair growth
-Due to it's antibacterial quality it gently cleanses hair
-Increases shine
-Fights premature graying
-Relieves irritated, dry, flaky, dandruff ridden scalps
