Even though many celebrities today are touting the beauty of a blended family, there is a lot of pain and healing that has to occur before everyone can pose for a happy family photo.

Gospel star Tamela Mann and her hubby, fellow singer and actor David Mann, are being candid about how David’s baby mama almost ruined their marriage in their new book.

“The book was inspired by our 30-year journey (of being married),” David told Ebony. “We’ve been saying we were going to do the book for the last five years, since our 25th anniversary. But we just felt like this was the right time.”

As we’re finding out on their new reality show, Chad Loves Michelle, Chad Johnson and Michelle Williams may not be a match made in Heaven, after all.

By now, most of us have seen the clip of the pair having an online counseling session where they spoke about one of their most recent fights. The fact that the couple had a fight is not a shocker. What did raise our collective eyebrows is how these two are fighting. In short: Michelle brought up race, and Chad took a dig at her mental health, neither of which is okay. However, Chad’s response to his fiancée was especially troubling.

I knew yesterday when Nicki hopped on Queen Radio to declare that the knot on Cardi’s head was caused by her friend Rah Ali, I knew that Cardi was going to have a response. One because it was in direct contrast to what Cardi and all witnesses had said about the incident and there was no footage to corroborate that.

My best friend and I were having a conversation about prayer one day, and she said to me, "You have to be SPECIFIC with your prayers to God; don't leave anything out!" That really stuck with me, because prior to this, there had been so many times I've prayed or meditated over something, and while sometimes I received what I asked for, most of the time it wasn't quite what I thought I wanted.

I prayed for a new job, but that new job didn't end up fulfilling me. I've prayed for new opportunities, but when the opportunities came, I would often pass on them because, again, they weren't quite right. I even prayed for a new man, and girl, you can imagine how that went since I wasn't SPECIFIC.

Ciara Opens Up About Manifesting Her Best Life

VICTOR DEMARCHELIER

via xoNecole by @michellesashawrites

When I think about my life, I often think about all the sacrifices I've made thus far just to make it another day.

I've given up relationships, jobs, and even a bit of comfort in the pursuit of what I visualize as my dreams. A lot of times, it's easier to focus on what you don't have. However, when we're able to, instead, focus on what we do have, we grant ourselves permission to manifest additional greatness into our lives.

In a lot of ways, singer and model Ciara is a glowing example of what a lot of us strive to be: the mother, the wife, and the career woman, doing it all in a seemingly effortless way. In the past, the 32-year-old has spoken about manifesting her dream husband, quarterback Russell Wilson, and why her intentional focus on positive affirmations have led her to lead the life of her dreams. But that's not the only blessing she spoke into existence.

Recently, Ciara linked up with Cosmopolitan to shoot her first cover for the magazine and also dropped some gems about her ambition, her goals, and why she will never entertain an online troll.

Celebs Speak Up for Justice

by Tiffani Greenaway of MyMommyVents.com

We've criticized athletes and celebrities for not using their platforms to speak about the injustices in our community. We've called them to the carpet for remaining tight lipped in the face of the mass shooting in Orlando or the massacre of Black men across our country.

By Mike Orie of TheConscousTip.com
Today is Missy Elliott's 45th birthday, and if you've been a fan as long as I have then you've been holding her down since the cassette tape era. Elliott was born July 1, 1970, in the town of Portsmouth, Virginia. She would overcome many hardships at a young age, but ultimately they would lead her to a very successful career. Although she hasn't released an album since 2005, Elliott's music has remained a prominent mainstay. In honor of her 45th birthday, we've put together a list of 5 songs to celebrate Missy Elliott's 45th birthday. Check them out below and let us know your favorite in the comment section.

Hillary Clinton laughs at her own jokes at 2016 Black Girls Rock! Awards

by Mike Orie of www.theconscioustip.com

Well, I don’t really know what a bad hair day is like, because I keep a low cut tapered on the sides. But Monday reminded of me what being in New Orleans during Essence Fest might feel like for a Black girl with natural hair. Three days ago, the 10th annual Black Girls Rock! Awards aired on BET. Black women, whose voices are often silenced in mainstream media, the workplace and every other facet of life gathered to celebrate just how amazing they were. Last night, I watched some of these clips again and realized they were probably some of the most powerful things I’ve seen in awhile. I listening to Shonda Rhimes story on how she wanted to “portray women the same way men are.” And then there was Beverly Bond’s speech. “Our features can be bought and sold to enhance the beauty of other women.” It really made me stop to appreciate the little privilege I do have as a Black male.
