Unless you've been sleeping under a rock the last 24 hours, there's a pretty good chance that you've seen Kanye West's new video Fade. But if you're one of the 3% who hasn't, I can pretty much sum up the feeling everybody had after seeing it in one sentence. We all woke up this morning and renewed our gym memberships.

RIP Aaliyah: 15 Years Later, Remembering Aaliyah's Legacy

R.I.P. Aaliyah...R.I.P.   R.I.P. Aaliyah...R.I.P.

This morning I woke up, blasting Kendrick Lamar's "Blow My High." Just 30-minutes before, I scrolled through Instagram, reminded that it's been 15 long years since we lost a legend. A few years back when I first heard Kendrick's track, I found myself wondering what life would've been like had Aaliyah still been around. I remember hearing Andre 3000's Pink & Blue for the first, remembering that age was truly nothing but a number.

Afeni Shakur, You Are Appreciated.

by Mike Orie of

"There's no way I can pay you back, but my plan is to show you that I understand. You are appreciated." These are the words that many young boys find themselves uttering in silence often alone. They are the moments that you may never hear about as you scream one too many reminders of dirty dishes in the sink. But it’s these late nights of stomach’s rumbling, anxiety, depression, the ghetto streets of Oakland, Chicago, New Orleans or Brooklyn where a mother’s comfort heals all. Even the moment’s of a young boy slamming the door profusely after an argument of leftover Hamburger Helper remains, remaining in the sink. Lifeless, yet full of life, the dissolved molecules and grease stains have cemented a permanent reminder that dishwashing liquid can never fully resolve. This week was a moneymaking week for the music industry. But while somebody's making all the money, somebody else has to be spending it. And I can tell you one thing, it's not me.

I haven’t listened to Lemonade yet. But the day it dropped on Tidal, I bragged to all my friends about my $11.99 subscription and how I was finally starting to get my money’s worth. But before I got a chance to listen to it, a few of my female friends told me they could never date the same after listening to the album. Not really ready for that type of pressure, I decide to save my listen for another day.

How Many Breaks Do You Take A Day At Work?

by Mike Orie of

In hip hop music; the breaks are when the extra instruments drop out and the track strips down. Usually causing you to reflect or to add deeper emphasis on a particular instrument or moment in the song. Just in case you’re not following me, it’s 2:50-3:00 on Juvenile’s ‘Back That Thang Up’. But in life, sometimes we add lots of breaks into our daily soundtrack. Smoke breaks, lunch breaks, bathroom breaks, Facebook breaks, second bathroom breaks, Beyonce breaks, snack breaks, and walk over to your coworkers desk breaks. We've somehow justified a different break for every hour of our 8-hour work day.
