–How long have you been natural?
I’ve been natural since December 2003. My last relaxer was July 2003. So almost 5 years.
-What is your regimen?
I’m trying to recreate one as we speak. I realized if I want to grow my hair longer without dealing with knots and dry split ends I cant wear daily wash n go’s anymore. As soon as I hit APL, WNG’s wreck havoc on my ends. So right now I’m deep conditioning 2-3 times a week to soften my ends, and out of those DC sessions I use Motions CPR as a protein treatment 1x per week. In one use, that product turned my hair around! I think I’m one of the few naturals that need protein. I detangle about twice per week with a wide tooth comb and my Denman Brush. I wear a ponytail or a twist up do, until its time for me to wash again. I’m also trying to steer clear of shampoo.
-What is the one thing you’d tell a newbie to help her on her journey?
Don’t become overwhelmed with all of the information being thrown at you. You’ll be out of a lot of money and still at square one. If you’re hair isn’t damaged beyond the point of recognition, try to find a long time member with a similar hair type to yours and see what methods work her hair routine BUT make modifications when it comes to your own hair.
-How do you maintain length?
By not trimming as often. Before I got serious about growing my hair longer, I used to get tons of growth but I was quick to grab the scissors when my hair wasn’t acting right. Wrong move! This is why I have yet to make it past APL…being scissor happy 🙁
-What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?!
You stand out more…well at least I do hehehe
What texture do you have?? Is that your natural curl pattern???
what great texture she has! gotta love natural hair for it.
I love that style with the flower, it is so pretty.
