-Were you a long term or short term transitioner, and why?
I was a short term transitioner of sorts. The last time I relaxed was early July08, and I was planning on relaxing again. But after a car accident and sitting home, I realized I was too tired to keep doing the same thing. My hair had broken off because of differnt meds.
-When did you BC? What was your initial reaction to your natural hair?
My first BC on 11/7/08. And I disliked what she did…I felt stuck with some half fro/half relaxed do. On 11/11/08 I went to a barber who finished off the BC and then… finally…I loved it. I loved the way my hair curled up, how you can see those lil gray hairs, which seemed as healthy as my normal hair.
-What was your transition routine (products included)?
I basically washed and conditioned, I used Carol’s Daughter products.
-What was your staple hair style during the transition?
I did a lot of half wigs and draw string pony tails.
-How did you moisturize your hair to prevent breakage at the new growth line?
No not really, because I tried to moisturize the entire length. I wasnt going to do the natural thing at first. But once I cut it, I definitely moisturized the length.
-Why did you choose to go natural?
I have MS and wanted to stop relaxing because of all the meds I was taking. I wanted to see if I stopped using the relaxers, would it affect my health positively. It did because once I stopped relaxing and I did the BC, my outlook on life has changed which has improved my health.
You look beautiful, congrats on your BC!!! Thank you for sharing your story, I know a couple of people who have MS.
I love it. Cuz
Thank you!
What a truly inspiring story! 🙂
