-Were you a long term or short term transitioner, and why?
I was a short term transitioner. I am an all or nothing kind of girl, it’s either I was relaxed or natural. Like everything in life, I knew I wouldn’t like the in between gray area. I also wanted to experience all phases of being natural from short to medium to hopefully the big afro I’m aiming for.
-When did you BC? What was your initial reaction to your natural hair?
November 30, 2007, I will never forget that day. I felt so free, and I loved my hair and how I looked with it the minute the big chop was over.
-What was your transition routine (products included)?
I weaved for 5 weeks and wore braids for another 5 weeks. I was 4 months post relaxer when I chopped. I used African Royal braid spray to moisturize during that time.
-What was your staple hair style during the transition?w
Weave then braids (Kinky twists)
-How did you moisturize your hair to prevent breakage at the new growth line?
Africa Royal braid spray.
-Why did you choose to go natural?
I was inspired 2 years before when I studied abroad in London. I met my now friend Marron who hailed from Florida. Before then, I never thought natural hair was beautiful. Well, she inspired and still inspires me. I decided then to go natural but was a little apprehensive. Two years later I thought, hey why not? And did 🙂
