PrettieJonesy- A Story of Transition

By January 27th, 2021No Comments

-Were you a long term or short term transitioner, and why?
I was a short term transitioner. I transitioned for 4.5 months. I had plans to wait until January to do the big chop, but I grew tired of the two textures and went ahead and got it cut.

-When did you BC? What was your initial reaction to your natural hair?
I BC’d 11.5.08, so about a week ago. I was actually laughing the whole time he was cutting it. Maybe to keep myself from crying. I loved it when I saw it. It looked pretty good. Better than I had imagined.

-What was your transition routine (products included)?
I just washed and conditioned with Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner once a week and kept my hair moisturized with a lot of Carol’s Daughter products, mainly her Mimosa Hair Honey. At night I wrapped it up and in the mornings, threw on my half wigs.

-What was your staple hair style during the transition?
Half wigs and braids.

-How did you moisturize your hair to prevent breakage at the new growth line?
I used a lot of Carol’s Daughter products. Her vanilla leave in conditioner, her hair milk, and her mimosa hair honey. I also did deep treatments after I washed with my normal conditioner.

-Why did you choose to go natural?
I chose to go natural because I grew tired of my hair growing and then breaking. I noticed that my hair grew a lot more when I didn’t get perms for three to four months at a time and I always wondered what my natural texture looked like. So I thought maybe I should just stop getting perms altogether. So I went and did my research via the web and youtube, and I was amazed at all of the beautiful hair I saw and was inspired to go natural as well.
