My hair 11/26/2008- 3 day old bun
It’s almost Turkey Day 😀
I’m writing to add a revision to my routine. My practice has picked up a lot, and I’m having a hard time finding the time to squeeze in ‘hair play’ (among other things, lol). Until I adjust to my new routine, I’m reverting to daily bunning. I’m officially bunnin’ it. I bunned last week, this week, and I’m planning to keep it going through the 12th of December. I haven’t had the time to deep condition or henna…but I plan to do both on December 6th. I may have to bun for longer…I’ll just take it week by week.
Basically, I shampoo and condition once a week (on Sunday), and execute the style. Every other night, I’ll take the bun down (but leave the hair in the pony tail), apply shea butter, and re-twist the pony (4 or 5 twists). In the morning, I take down the twists and re-do the bun. On nights that I didn’t take the bun down, I simply put on a scarf, go to bed, and wake up and go. Very simple, and pretty chic. It’s definitely not as fun as BIG hair, but it’ll due for now…
It’s REALLY hard for me to keep my hair in protective styles. I had an appointment last week, and the secretary said, “When I saw you the first time, I was like, who is that girl with all of that hair! Your hair is so thick! What do you do to it?” It’s comments like this, that make me want to ‘find the time’ to style it, but I think I can hold out for another couple of weeks.
I’ll be announcing the winner of the Journey to Natural submissions, as well as announcing the next ‘Cleaning Out my Closet’ Challenge tomorrow…Stay Tuned 😀
