-How long have you been natural?
I have been natural since April 2001. I let my hair grow to my shoulders, long enough to get into a ponytail, then I cut off the relaxed ends.

-What is your regimen?
I detangle with my fingers, pre-treat with an aloe vera and olive oil mix, wash and condition my hair in large, loose braids and ‘seal my hair ‘strategically’. To seal strategically, first I put on a panthenol heavy water based moisturizer, then an oil based moisturizer and then finally a thick heavy emulsified based moisturizer. To hold in the moisture, I put on a baggie and wear a ponytail. Not very exciting, but effective!

-What is the one thing you’d tell a newbie to help her on her journey?
Release your preoccupation with trying to be perfect. Imperfection is what is beautiful, unique, authentic and inspirational.

-How do you maintain length?
I think my regimen of sealing and protective styling help me to maintain length. Also, every 6-10 weeks I do a deep protein treatment and that also helps to strengthen my hair and help me maintain length.

-What is the best thing about being naturally glamorous?
Being naturally glamorous communicates a universal message. It says, “Beautifull!” Healthy natural hair resonates with all people whether they speak your language or not, from all over the world. I couldn’t begin to detail the number of times people have approached me because they had a question about or a compliment for me, about my hair. Being naturally glamorous provides people with an opening to approach you. It gives you an opportunity to share with others and to learn about them as well.

-Tell us about your new book that is currently available via AMAZON!
I have written a hair book under my Beautify Bit by Bit series of books. The first book is entitled, “Grow It! How to Grow Afro-Textured Hair to Maximum Lengths in the Shortest Time.” It is a six step process that focuses on how to gain and maintain length on afro-textured hair. Anyone can use the information, and it can fit into any regimen. It is not ingredient, product or product line dependent. You can use the process I outline with any of your favorite products. It will be available on Amazon.com in the US, UK, Canada, Japan, Germany and France.
