Happy Wednesday!
I’d love to share one of my favorite sites with you… many of you’ve probably heard of it, but those of you that haven’t, are in for a treat!
CosmeticDatabase – Skin Deep
(click, ‘no thanks’ take me to site)
Skin Deep is a safety guide to cosmetics and personal care products brought to you by researchers at the Environmental Working Group .
Although I’m not super strict about my hair care products (I know, tisk, tisk), I’m pretty strict about what goes on my face and skin. The most hazardous item I use on my face are the Ponds Clean Sweep Wipes (I think it has a hazard rating of 5). Check out your makeup, haircare, and skin care lines, and let me know how your products measure up… Especially if one of your fav moisturizers is ranked low on the hazard scale!
One of my new fav moisturizers (besides my beloved shea butter) is Jason Natural Cosmetics- Earth’s Best Extra Rich Therapy Cream. It’s a baby moisturizer, and has a hazard rating of 1 (out of a possible 10). I use it on occasion. Obviously 100% Pure Shea Butter ranks in at 0…and so does Petroleum Jelly (go figure).
Later Gators,
Nik
Can I ask you where you get your Shea Butter from? And also the name/brand of it? I would love to use it on my face & hair!! Thanks.
I’m with LBell..I can’t believe petroleum jelly is a 0. I love Shea Butter too..it’s soooo moisturizing :o) Nik, where do u get your shea from??
Thanks for this. Most of what I use is in the yellow range (3-6: moderate hazard). Interesting that petroleum jelly is a 0…
