-How long have you been natural?
I have been completely relaxer-free for almost 3 years. My last relaxer was March 2005 and my big chop was February 2006. I tried to go natural unsuccessfully back in 2004 but by 2005 I was determined to stop living the lye forever.

-What is your regimen?
My regimen and products has been evolving the entire time I’ve been natural. My current winter regimen is shampoo on the weekend, with Dr. Bronner’s castile soap or Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Shampoo. I condition with Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Conditioner, Bed Head Moisture Maniac and/or Pantene Relaxed & Natural deep conditioning mask. I conditioner wash mid-week with Suave Tropical Coconut or Aussie Moist. For styling, I use KBB Hair Milk, Castor Oil, and Long Aid Curl Activator Gel, in that order. Those are the products I have used most currently, the products I use change all the time but this is the regimen that works for me.

-What is the one thing you’d tell a newbie to help her on her journey?
Be patient! It may take alot of experimentation and research to figure out the best regimen and products that work for your hair. Don’t get discouraged if your hair doesn’t look like the next person’s hair.

-How do you maintain length?
Healthy hair retains the most length. Moisturization is a must for maintaining healthy hair. Dry hair splits and is damaged easily. Make sure to water your thirsty hair! Regular trimming is also key to getting rid split, damaged ends and maintaing the health of your hair.

-What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?!
Being free. Free from relaxers, free from chemical burns, free from long hours at the salon, free from running from water. Not alot of people around here are natural, but my big curly natural hair is part of what makes me unique and beautiful.
