-Were you a long term or short term transitioner, and why?
I think I was a mid term transitioner, I lasted about 8.5 months. I actually wanted to go longer, about a year, so that I had a lot of new growth, but the two textures became overwhelming. When I took out my kinky twists the new growth got me so excited and I knew it was my time.
-When did you BC? What was your initial reaction to your natural hair?
I BC’ed June 20, 2008 after an 8 1/2 month transition. I was a little shocked initially, but immediately fell in love with my hair.
-What was your transition routine? Staple Hair Styles?
I use to love to rock my phony pony with a braid/ twist combo updo. I also did a lot of roller sets. The last couple of months I used kinky twists to transition.
-How did you moisturize your hair to prevent breakage at the new growth line?
I did a lot of co-washes (3 or 4 times a week) and used shea butter to keep my hair moisturized.
-Why did you choose to go natural? Are you happy with your decision?
I was really tired of the scabs I got from the relaxer. I also have eczema on my scalp and it flared up really bad after relaxers, to the point where I developed a slight odor in my hair. I could no longer deal with the drama of all that. I’m so happy with my decision to go natural. I will never ever get another relaxer again. Everyday is a new adventure, as I reach new lengths with my natural hair.

I love the shape of your twist out, did you have your hair cut that way or do you twist it to fall that way?
You are too pretty
I love your twist out. I wish the twist out style looked that good on me-but sadly it doesn’t.
I did braided roots and then two strand twists. its in my 7th month folder of my fotki. http://public.fotki.com/soontobenappy/1/napptural-month-7/ There’s more pictures of it there. Thanks everyone I felt truly honored to do this.
