CN: Were you a long term or short term transitioner, and why?
A: I was a short termer. I transitioned for about 2 months. I wanted to experience every style and learn as much as I could about my hair at every length it grows, from short to long. I don’t think I could have played the waiting game for 8 months while my relaxer grew out. The straight ends would have been too distracting, and I’d be risking breakage.
CN: When did you BC? What was your initial reaction to your natural hair?
A: I BC’d on Dec.25, 2008. When I first cut it, I felt relieved and the length didn’t bother me at all. I don’t mind short hair.
CN: What was your transition routine? Staple Hair Styles?
A: Since it was so short I only did Kinky Twists, and chopped after I took them out.
CN: How did you moisturize your hair to prevent breakage at the new growth line?
A: I sprayed Conditioner water in my hair every morning, and I massaged oil and moisturizer into my scalp every night before I tied it up.
CN: Why did you choose to go natural? Are you happy with your decision?
A: I wanted to try again. I went natural fall of 06 and relaxed again in fall of 07 because I wasn’t educated. I got bored and wanted something different. But I didn’t feel beautiful with my relaxed hair. So I realized that bored or not, I felt beautiful with my curls. I also got sick of blending in, and disappointments. My hair wasn’t meant to be straight, that’s why it rebels and doesn’t do what I want…your natural hair fights through no matter what, relaxing it is just going to make it rebel more! Accepting yourself is just less stress lol. I am EXTREMELY happy with my decision!
Your cut is beautiful and so are you…it just frames your face so well.
Pretty!
