Off topic, here is clear evidence of my Hand in Hair Syndrome:
At any given time, I’m pulling at, finger curling, twirling, or picking at my curls. I’ve also been known to check my ends for splits while in meetings and other intimate settings. I know…completely inappropriate, but I can’t help it! It’s a sickness. It was so bad last year that I actually carried a pair of hair scissors in my purse…for emergencies, lol. Sad.
Moving on…
Below you will find pictures of my second day hair. The pictures from the Saturday Night Triangle Meet-up, are the result of a Thursday night henna treatment, and a Friday afternoon Twist-n-Curl. I used my ‘old faithful’ routine:
- Co-wash with Hello Hydration (I used HH on one half, and Aussie Moist on the other)
- Used DevaCare One Condition + Jessicurl Weekly Deep Treatment as leave-ins
- Spritzed ends with DevaCurl Set it Free (moisture locking spray)
- Sealed with Shea Butter
- Set ends on 2 diff. size rollers
Last night, I slept with my hair out, on a satin pillow case. Much to my surprise, when I woke up this morning, my hair looked exactly the same. It wasn’t smooshed or fizzy…in fact it was a bit fuller. I lay on my right side, so what I did was lift that hair up and over the pillow to avoid flattening it. Viola! Awesome hair, without the bonnet…at least for today. I’m going to play with this some more and see how it works out. Needless to say, hubby was happy…he detests my bonnet.
Okay. I love your hair. I transitioned with braids and weaves for 10 months and two weeks ago, I cut my hair down to to about an inch. I’m totally obsessed with natural hair and I’m glad to see there are others out there with the same sickness! Everyday I become more aware that natural hair is a process and requires a lot of attention. You have inspired me to begin a natural hair group in my area. Luv your blogs. Keep up the good work!

i'm not a bonnet/wrap person either. to me it makes my hair matt together. pin curling & re-twisting or pineappleing make more sense to me. but usually i go freestyle to bed unless my hair has been straightened.nothing wrong with covering the head at night, but i think alot of people just do it cause thats what everyone else does.
Thank you ladies!!!!
I still use Lustrasilk, but DevaCare One is my true HG. I’ll switch back and forth.
Lauita and Black Girl with Long Hair, I’m happy someone feels my pain! I can’t keep my hands out of my head!
Beautiful :o)
I must confess I have that syndrome as well – every once in a while this guy at work walks by and says, “There’s nothin’ wrong with your hair,” because my hand is always in it and I’ve been wearing box braids in a bun for months :o)
I love 2nd & even 3rd day hair. It just looks so full & healthy :o)
