If you’ve mastered the nightly routine, submit pictures and instructions to nikki@curlynikki.com. There are so many curlies out there with no friggin’ idea of how to preserve their sexy! Help ’em out! Thanks to Suburbanbushbabe for your ingenious idea!
Submissions received before 5pm on March 21st will be entered in a drawing to win 4 ounces of Jessicurl Too Shea Conditioner:
Ingredients: Water infused with Lemongrass, Nettle, Burdock, Kelp, Marshmallow Root,Horsetail, Basil, Bay Leaf, Oregano, Rosemary, Peppermint, Sage, and Thyme; Aloe Vera Juice, Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Cetearyl Alcohol, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, Lecithin, Hydrolyzed Oat Flour, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance.
Description: This thick conditioner uses Shea Butter for its moisturizing properties, adding wonderful softness to super dry hair. It also utilizes the beneficial properties of 14 different herbs and spices. Good for daily use on thick, dry hair; it may be too heavy for hair that gets weighed down easily.
Too Shea is very, very similar to Jessicurl’s Weekly Deep Treatment. I find it to be slightly thicker, and perhaps even a tiny bit richer. The only reason it’s not on my HG list is because it contains a bit of protein (Oat Flour). It’s a wonderful conditioner with great detangling properties (Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Cetearyl Alcohol), excellent ingredients, and a delightful citrusy fragrance. Good luck!
Later Gators,
Nik
I love my hair because it represents me totally stripped down to the core. Nothing to hide behind. You either love it or leave it alone!
I’ll put together a post for this night time routine too.. 🙂
Hi Curly Nikki!
Here is my night-time routine
http://public.fotki.com/breezybaby/products-line-exper/nightime-routine-tw/
I love the versatility of my kinks and curls. My colleagues are always like “OMG, your hair looks so different!” “I wish I could change my hair like that.” One day it’s a short afro, the next day twists, and the following week, flat-ironed. I’m loving it!
I love my curly hair! My favorite thing to do is to pull one curl and say “boing” when nobody is looking.
Hey Nikki!
I’ve been lurking on you site for a couple months, and I’m just really starting to come to terms with my hair. I have hair that’s about as curly/kinky as you can get, and I’ve never actually permed it, but I’ve spent the past 19 years thinking that all I could do if I wanted to be natural was keep my hair in braids and press it as a treat every once in a while. I decided to answer this question because before now I didn’t actually know what I loved most about my hair. I love its uniqueness. I can type my hair according to ten different systems, and it still won’t trully explain why I have five grey hairs in the back of my head and why my middle is so much coarser than the rest. I look exactly like my mom, but our hair is still slightly different. I remember being told once that “you are the only you in the world” and my curls are the perfect manifestation of that. No one has my hair and no one ever will. It’s all mine!
I love that I am not on a time frame with my hair. I can do whatever I want when I want.
I don’t have to get out the calendar and count the weeks. And I love being able to walk around proudly when we have a little rainfall!!!
I love my natural curls because it is my trademark.Spotting my hair in the crowd is almost instant.I also love it because besides the versatility, my hair has inspired many others to end their slavery to the relaxer.
I love that I am embracing the way I was truly intended to be. I love that I am silently- but visually- protesting the societal pressures that have hampered upon the esteem of so many women of color. I love that I am joining the ranks of so many enlightened and exploratory Black women who have bid adieu to the conk, the jerry curl, the perm, the wave nouvuea and are ushering in the natural. I love that my hair may one day be the prototype for women of color.
I love that I can get up and go. My hair can look fabulous with little persuasion. It’s natural and easy!
What I love most about my kinks is that they misbehave. I love it for some reason! It has taught me that i need to get out of the habit of trying to tame my hair and work with it. When i wear it out there are always a few coils that Stick straight out above the rest, and i have learned to just let it go, it gives me character!

Sorry i totally Emailed you, becasue i didnt read the instructions all the way lol. Sorry about that. You can just delete my email lol.
I love the versatility of my curly hair! Every day it looks different than the day before, and it definitely has its own fly personality!
I know God was rolling on the floor when he saw me trying to control my hair with a perm. Now he’s giggling because I’m trying to tickle him with my hair.
Hi Nikki,
First let me say how much I love your blog and how much it has helped me though my hair journey. Thank you so much for being here!
The thing that I absolutely love the most about my hair is that it allows me to be me. I don’t have to hide be hind harsh chemical relaxers and conform to what people “think” black hair should be like. My hair taught me that it is beautiful just the way it is in all its curly kinky glory. It has made me a stronger woman and my confidence has soared. My hair is a true reflexion of who I am. Beautiful, strong, and unique…
~Nicole Shea~
What I love about my hair is that it’s making me appreciate me. I grew up being told that natural hair was “unprofessional” and I should perm to maintain the professional appearance at work. I transitioned while living in a very non-diverse part of the world (literally, 97% white according to the census) working as the only minority female engineer in my company. I immediately recognized the attitude difference. Not a bad one, but in a way that I was stronger, to buck the trend that straight hair is professional. I had questions from mom, dad, boyfriend, and others, but I did it for me and it was fantastic. I notice I walk taller and stronger, and for that, I am very grateful.
I love that my hair doesn’t hold a grudge because of the abuse I put it through with the relaxers. I love that I no longer have hair envy. I love its complicated simplicity…
Nikki, have tried any of the MJ products? If so, what are your thoughts?
I love the versatility of my kinks and curls….I can make them tight…loose…or straight. The more I love and pamper my kinks…the bigger and better they get. The only thing I regret is waiting so long to embrace them.
I love how my curls go against the grain and relieve the stress-inducing need to have super straight hair all the time. Being natural has broken down the social barrier that says that people of color should have super straight hair.
I love how my curls,, kinks and spirals make me feel I stand out from the crowd.
I am a unique, beautiful, strong woman, I am different and proud of it and my hair screams that message to whoever is there to hear it!
I love my kinks and curls because they make me different!! I’m a college student at a HBCU in Alabama and there are maybe 15 girls here who wear they’re hair natural. I also love my hair because unlike my friends I don’t have to worry about getting my hair wet, or sweating it out at the club!!
I love my kinks and curlies because they are allll mine!! As well, permies are so generic that when a man sees a beautiful curly fro, he does a double take and just has to speak!!! I can’t count the number of times that I’ve heard stuff like, “You look like Jill Scott baby!!” or the classic, “that hair look too good to not be on an album cover!!” I love my hair!!!
I love the beauty and texture of my kinks, coils and curls showcase and it was truly liberating for me to go natural. And a bonus…No worries when i work out at the gym or when it rains. – Meshia
I love my curls because they give me a totally new look from what i’ve had before. My curls are very versatile and really make me look even more like the women in my family which i love!!! I’m really happy i started this journey because i’ve learned soo much about my hair and about all the different things i can do to it! Thanks Nikki for all your helpful tips! – Angela Raynell-
I love the fact that my hair has it’s own personality. With a relaxer I was following society, but my natural hair dances to its own rhythm. The kinks and curls do what they want and I love it!
I love that my curls are all different sizes and shapes. I love that each curl is unique! I LOVE my hair! 🙂

Hi Nikki,
I just wanted to tell you what I love about my hair. I have not relaxed since May 08, so we are still starting off. I am not sure, if it is curly, kinks, swirls…But I love whatever it is doing! I love how me and my hair are like when you first date someone:(I have been with my FI for almost 5 years, and we are getting married in May, so it has been a while, but this is what I remember)right now I am so intrigued by everything my hair is doing. I can’t keep my hand out of it, trying to figure out what it is doing(like that dating phase, why did he call!!!?) I am still trying to figure out what it likes and dislikes. I want to do what is best to make this relationship with my hair work, so I am reading up on everything I need to. What I love most, is how I feel about my self, and this new hair. I know this is one huge ramble. So I am sorry in advance!
Jennika
I love the fact that you dont’t have to run from the rain or the pool.. I also love the fact that I can show my daughters that their hair is beautiful.
Great giveaway Nikki. I can’t wait to see the submissions….cause I need all the suggestions I can get with my nighttime routine.

Nappy is my new Happy…
Slave to perm no more!

I love that my hair is headstrong (just like me.) It told me to stop perming it, and I did. We’re happier now.:)
