OMG…It’s ZHARA!!!

CN: How long have you been natural?
Z: I have been completely Natural for almost 2 ½ years!

CN: What is your regimen?
Z: My regimen is short and sweet! I have altered it slightly over the last two years as my hair evolves but for the most part I co-wash with aubrey organics conditioners 2 xs per week and use certified virgin organic coconut oil 1x per week as a leave in and shine enhancer. I do use raw shea butter occasionally following the 2 weeks post shampoo or when I need a weather protectant. I keep my hair in a protective style during the week (Braids or twists!) and then style out on the weekends. I occasionally use aubrey organics B5 gel to braid or twist but most of the time I use just water under the shower! Every 4-6 weeks I Deep Condition, shampoo and use a homemade herbal hair rinse. And then every season I DETOX my hair on shampoo day, using my herbal hair rinse mixed with ACV!

CN: What is the one thing you’d tell a newbie to help her on her journey?
Z: I would recommend to her to find a knowledgeable mentor to help assist her with her journey! The journey to nappturalism can be a challenging, emotional rollercoaster for some. If you have a mentor to lean on-ask questions too, seek guidance, support and motivation, the journey can become less stressful and much more enjoyable for a newbie!

CN: How do you maintain length?
Z: I do live a very healthy lifestyle; nutrition and exercise are a huge part of my hair care regime. I drink a homemade herbal hair growth tea almost every day which is also a great health & wellness tea…. I keep my hair in a protective style 80% of the time, and I’m always consistent with my hair care techniques…I also use inexpensive high quality natural products! Some of the other things that help me retain length; I NEVER use heat and get my hair professionally trimmed every 6mos!

CN: What led to your decision to solely use natural products and ingredients?
Z: I didn’t like the way my hair looked or felt when I first went natural. It wasn’t at all how I imagined it should look. The commercial products I was using were depressing my hair for real! I had lived an alternative holistic lifestyle for quite a few years before I decided to return my hair to its natural state, so I decided it was time for my hair products to go natural too! Since I have stuck with 100% pure natural products my hair has thrived beyond my imagination.

CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?!
Z: Oh wow I have to say that wearing your natural hair texture separates your beauty from others in a way that creates a divine natural beauty of oneself! Hair is a huge part of a woman’s image and no one else will have the same style or texture because God made each strand specially for you and that is GLAMOROUS!!!!

Zhara, your hair is Beautiful!! Nikki, you always showcase amazing hair. Luv your blog:)

Your hair is absolutely stunning!!! And I can’t believe your routine is so simple. I have a few questions for you: 1. what do you shampoo your hair with? 2. How do you make this herbal hair rinse and do you use it as a final rinse after you’ve conditioned your hair? 3. Also how much ACV do you add to the herbal rinse when you do detox? I have recently adapted a vegan diet and I am slowly trying to make other aspects of my life (including hair) more natural as well, slowly that is. Presently, I preshampoo with pure unrefined coconut oil and DT with Aubrey Organics but everything else are commercial products that I am not quite ready to let go unless I find better options.
