CN: How long have you been natural?
ST: I stopped getting relaxers June of 2005. I cut off my relaxed ends February 14,2006 with the help of my wonderful husband. It was such a liberating experience. So, in a nut shell, I have been natural for 3 years and counting!

CN: What is your regimen?
ST: I don’t really follow a strict regimen to be honest. I shampoo and condition weekly with one of my “many” shampoos and conditioners. I have been consistently (for the past 3 months) using Real Solutions to do my weekly shampoo and condition. For conditioner washes I use VO5 Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream. I clarify once a month with Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo or the famous ACV Rinse. I moisturize daily with Shea Butter and seal my ends at night with Olive Oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil or Coconut Oil (depends on my mood).

CN: What is the one thing you’d tell a newbie to help her on her journey?
ST: To be patient. Don’t get discouraged if a product doesn’t react to your hair as it did with another naturals hair. Everyone hair is different and unique. Try different products to see what your hair likes and stick with it. Also, be patient with the growth process and don’t be afraid to try different styles as you did when you were relaxed.

CN: How do you maintain length?
ST: I do a ton of protective styling (i.e. braids, twist, buns, etc). I also seal my ends at night with some type of oil (coconut, olive or Jamaican black Castor oil). I dust my ends every 2 months or as needed.

CN: How do you protect your style at night?
ST: I sleep with a satin bonnet that I purchased from my local beauty supply store. I also sleep on a satin pillow case in case my bonnet slides off.

CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?!
ST: The versatility! If I want to be curly one day I can, if I want to wear my hair straight I can. I absolutely love the different styles that we can have while being natural!
