Happy Easter!!!
It’s 4/12…which is exactly a month away from my 26th Birthday!! Hint, hint 😉
Question of the day:
If you met a fellow Natural or ‘soon to be’ on the street, and only had a couple of seconds to recommend 2 products…which would you choose, and why? What are your top 2 picks for 2009…thus far 😉
My 2 Recs’:
-Henna..duh 🙂 For strength, volume, and all around flyness.
-DevaCare One Condition for styling and lots of moisture
Dish Divas…that way, we can all go to the store armed!
1) Henna
2) Kinky Curly Curling Custard
Both are THE BUSINESS.
I’m late but, I am interested in becoming a PJ(Product Junkie) intervention hotline volunteer.
henna and profectiv daily leave in strengthener.
Oyin Greg Juice (I love diluting it with water to moisturize and/or refresh)
Blended Beauty Happy Nappy Styles (Still the best I’ve tried for easy detangling and incredible softness)
Is your bday May 12th? Mine too! I’ll be 27 🙂
@SwirlyT I don’t know how many PJ’s would complete the program! lol
Shea Butter
Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Condish.
Amen!!! LOL
henna for it’s magical powers lol and shea butter for it’s all around goodness: smoothness, shine, hold, inexplicable moisture
Right now I’m digging Carol’s Daughter’s Hair Milk (it’s cheapest to buy this from Amazon.com b/c of the free, fast shipping from Macy’s) and Kinky-Curly Knot Today.
I’m definitely saving this post … I love trying new products 🙂
1. Joico’s Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm
2. Sabino Moisture Block
I’m so glad I popped in here to comment. I’m seeing a lot of Karen’s Body Beautiful tossed around here. That reminds me I wanted to go visit her store and try out her products. I’m glad EmpressRi’s review has some backup!
Jamican Black Castor Oil
SheaMoisture Leave In Conditioner
I too am a serious PJ (have been all my life)and forced myself to stop the list at 2.
Nik – you should consider adding a tab for PJ Rehab (you’ll need to find a non pj lead as we all know you will make the whole group relaspe!).
rhassoul clay – for cleaning and conditioning
avocado butter- for shine and moisture. Addtionally KCCC works better for me over avocado butter.
1. creme of nature ultra moisturizing detangling green and yellow bottle shampoo. Amazing
2. Nothing- I haven’t found the best second item. Still searching though
1. Shea butter your ends every night
2. Henna for incredible softness, fullness and color
*note a product but very important is a satin bonnet, scarf or pillow
1) Karen’s Body beautiful Hair Nectar- this has to be the best leave in moisturizer for my dry hair
2.) Castor oil- the best oil for my hair
and I know you said two, but additional must have is Chagrin Valley poo bars….my hair LOVES them!
100% Aloe Vera Gel and Coconut oil. I’m a PJ and I’m always switching products but I will always go back to these.
Have to try the coconut oil(from grocery for my whipped shea mix) and qp mango butter now….damn it… yes this post is one big enabler…lol.
You know, I’m gonna add 2 more… Sorry CN,
Karen’s Body Beautiful Hair milk… THE BEST!!!
and
Blended Beauty Herbal Reconditioner…
oh…
and Jessicurl weekly deep conditioner…
As a certified product junkie, there’s so many I could name… I’m not into the henna yet, but I”m getting there.

Great Topic once again!!
My 2009 top 2 picks so far—-
1. African Henna for strong, thick healthy hair
2. SitriNillah Deep Conditioner, excellent moisturizer
This one is a must!!!!
3.Essentia Purified Water for beautiful skin and hair
Knot Today and Shea Butter
Shea butter & Oyin Handmade Juices and Berries leave-in spray
wow… i love the reinforcement of hearing the same great products over and over again.
1. Qhemet Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee – I actually don’t use it to detangle, I use it as a moisturizer right before twisting my hair, gives awesome slip.
2. Karen’s Body Beautiful anything in Chamomile Sage – the smell is DIVINE! The hair milk followed up by the hair butter is a guaranteed man-killer, and sexy hair is always a good look.
An amla powder concoction and oil scalp massages are a close 3 and 4 though:-)
I have too many staples for this challenge! lol
so imma do my top 2 finds in ’09:
1. Henna/Amla mix
2. SAY YES TO CARROTS Mud Mask (gave me the best post henna hair yet! Glory Jesus!!!)
I knew I liked you lol Your birthday is just one day before mine 😉
I just found my ultimate moisturizer since going b/c so my picks:
Qhemet Alma and Olive Heavy Cream: as a daily moisturizer like no other and gives soft to the touch to your coils
Pantene Relax and Natural conditioner: for a great detangler and moisture. I just used it first time today and it blew me away.:)
Hmmm, well going on this year I would recommend…
1. Karen’s Body Beautiful Hair Milk-this stuff is amazing. I can’t really describe why, it just is. Loves it.
2. Oyin Juices and Berries-I bought this after reading about how you use it Nikki and I’m hooked. I mainly use it add moisture to my hair during the week but it works wonders. Love it.
(3 and 4 would be Oyin Burnt Sugar Pomade and Qhemet Amla and Olive Heavy Cream.)
Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose
100% Aloe Vera Juice
Shea Butter
Impossible, cannot pick only 2, sorry Nik….
1.100% Aloe Vera gel, to smooth the edges and baby hair without having to brush and risk breakage, also doesn’t make your hair all hard and crunchy like traditional hair gel.
2. Unrefined coconut oil, awesome sealant, smells yummy, and gives your hair a beautiful sheen.(great as a pre-poo as well!)
3. Elasta QP mango butter moisterizer, this ish is the truth, my ends have never held up for so long until I started using this.
4. Jamaican Black Castor Oil, my grandma used this on my hair ever since I was a little girl, excellent hot oil treatment!
5.Devacare One Conditioner, lots of moisture, and has a delicious citrus smell 😛
Sorry I didn’t play by the rules, but these are just things that I would recommend to anyone and I could never live without myself.
HENNA….it’s a miracle worker
Honey suckle rose conditioner…the best, most moisturizing condiotner EVER!!!
Extra virgin Coconut oil and aubrey organics B5 gel!!!! THE BEST!!
I know it was only suppose to be two but I don’t follow instructions very well…and I would probably be yelling other products at this girl as she was walkiing away…LOL
Most definitely henna and cold-pressed grapeseed oil; it detangles, seals in moisture (great for the face and body).
1. Henna ( I will be doing my third treatment today.)
2. Jessicurl Deep Treatment
….and if I could throw one more in there SHEA BUTTER!
Dang! Just two?! I’d have to say a Jilbere shower comb and LOTS of Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut conditioner. (I haven’t tried Hello Hydration yet.) Something tells me the sista could easily figure the rest out. :o)
1. Lustrasilk Shea Butter + Mango
2. Your favorite Deep Conditioner…( I use Olive Oil Replenishing Pak)
O yeah and a good wide tooth detangling comb
helllllloooo hydration! and… shea butter
SECOND on the Elasta Feels Like Silk Gel and the Penetrating Moisturizer is the best rewetter in the world( don’t be heavy handed or you’ll regret it.Lanolin gets greasy). IMO while not “damaging” to the hair, per se, henna has relaxing properties and colors the hair. I fought hard for these curls not gonna straighten them all over again. Two pieces of advice: experiment at the drug store, Target, Whole foods or Publix ( you can take back anything!!!). Learn ingredients! Do your homework, if you do find a hit, know why and what was in it so you know what to buy in the future. Same with the misses, what does your hair hate? Different hair and different climates mean no two will have the same regime don’t get discouraged if you try a recommendation and hate it or someone hates your HG.
Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Cream for fine hair and Shea Butter!!! Both products works wonders on natural and transitional hair… I am noticing less breakage. Close runner ups would be Oyin's F&B and their Whipped Shea
I guess I can't follow simple directions!!! 2 PRODUCTS… NOT 4!!!

Henna & Shea butter
Do they have to be products you can find at a box store? If so:
1) Hello Hydration conditioner
Why: For all the reasons stated. 😉
2) Coconut oil (unrefined if possible) from the cooking oils section of the store (as opposed to the “coconut oil” from the black hair products section)
Why: Because it’s one of the few oils that I find works across a variety of curly and kinky hair textures. Whether you use a little or a lot…it’s a good conditioner and sealant as well.
I would go with: Hello Hydaration(it is very moisturizing when left all in) and QP Feels Like Silk Gel(it’s light, it has no crunch, and as soon as you put it on your hair curls)
Hello Hydration
Aloe Vera
Henna and Jessicurl WDT. Staples for life!
aubrey organics honeysuckle rose conditioner to cowash or leavein because it is very moisturizing and extra virgin olive oil, it gives a great shine to the hair.
Hello Hydration & a good detanglng comb!
For me it’s henna (for the same reasons you’ve stated) and Herbal Essence Hello Hydration. I use it as a DC or Leave-in and my hair feels FABULOUS after…
