Slowly Back Away From The Scissors…

By January 27th, 202130 Comments

Hola Chicas,

For those of you that don’t know me very well…I can be incredibly impulsive at times πŸ˜‰

About 20 minutes ago (while watching College Hill- I caught up on last week and this week!) I decided to cut a few layers into my hair…mind you, I have no hair cutting experience. But hey, it’s just hair, right? I took down my five day old bun, and took off 2-3 inches at the crown, and on the upper layers of both sides. No rhyme or reason…just did what felt right, lol. I left the front pieces alone…trimmed about an inch off the back.

Here’s the before:

Slowly Back Away From The Scissors...

and after:
Slowly Back Away From The Scissors...
Slowly Back Away From The Scissors...

Nothing drastic, but hopefully it’ll give me whatever it is I’m looking for πŸ˜€ Hopefully I haven’t completely jacked up my hair! My ends looked great…no split ends to report.

What impulsive actions have you taken lately?

Hey Nik, the cut looks fabulous. But I think it’s cute that you did the cut yourself instead of getting it done professionally. You’re quite brave, but the results are deeee-vine!!!

    Nice cute.

Totally off topic, but wasn’t it hilarious when Kyle read Allison’s letter and then he mockingly said “God knows when”. That had my dying of laughter. Anywho, good to know someone else enjoys watching the show.

I was looking for a recommendation for a stylist and I never really got one so I may just leave it in my own hands (no pun intented) πŸ˜›

lol!!! I just came back from the bathroom doing the same you did(after hennaing yesterday. BTW, thanks for the HH leave-in-review. It works great for me and its so much friendlier to my wallet than the aveda- be curly styling stuff i used before:-)) . you look awesome(like always) with the new haircut.

Nikki I love your hair and your hair cut went through really well, I don’t think we really need a stylist as much. It’s always better to do your own hair but to be honest when I read the first lines I was like nooooooo she didnt hehe yet your hair looks fabulous with the cut too πŸ˜€

Looks really great – you can add ‘hairdressing skills’ to your list of assets!

I love it! I’ve been scissor happy since I was 5. Doesn’t matter if I have permed hair, braided hair, or just wearing it out and natural lol. It’s good to experiment. You look GREAT!

I absolutely love it!!! It gives your hair more volume. I can’t wait until my hair becomes your length, so I won’t be afraid to experiment. Good job!

  • Natural Nutritionista says:

You see? Sometimes, we just need to do it ourselves. You were nervous about going to the stylist to do it, but had absolutely no problem doing it yourself. That’s because you trust yourself. Nuff said. πŸ˜€

Good for you. I think that scissor phobia is to rampant in the natural community. Trimming keeps those strands healthy. So many talk down about heat but when done safely straight hair is a great indicator of the health of our ends. Our curls really do hide a multitude of sins. I have seen too many random straight hair pics in a otherwise beautiful fotki only to be let down by the horrid condition of some of these women’s ends. Trim ladies please. Growth can become an unhealthy obsession.

U r soooo brave !!!! It looks awesome!!

It came out great! When I was relaxed I cut my own hair often. Actually the more you do it, the better you get at it.

Sidebar-I’m gonna try out the gel tomorrow. I’m finally pretty healed up to wear I can really get back into my hair routine (in the shower). Expect me to contact you with what I think of it tomorrow.
