Hair Today- 3 day old TnC

By January 27th, 202121 Comments

Hola Chicas!

Garnier Sleek and Shine is working over time! My hair, on day 3 is doing exactly what I had hoped for — growing in size without becoming excessively frizzy.

The only thing I did to it the past two nights was apply Shea to the crown. I used bobby pins (the same ones you see in the pic below) to hold the hair away from my face while sleeping.

Sorry for the constant enabling lately…but you must try this product. What do you have to lose?!

Later Gators,
Nik

Are you using the sleek and shine as a leave in before doing the twists or are you doing a co-wash with it only?

I just tried the S&S for the 2nd time last night and did your routine with putting in the styling cond while in the shower while hair is soaking wet. I don't know why I waited so long to try it this way. I am so pleased. I did a TNC & my hair is soooo shiny & soft. I wasn't so impressed with the S&S the 1st time I tried it but I'm glad I tried it again using your method. Thanks for such great hair tips & good advise. BTW I used on my son's hair this a.m. and I'm waiting to see how it turns out when it dries completely. He has a little curly fro so it'll be dry in no time.

I am currently trying out the Garnier sleek and shine on my braid out. My hair isn't dry yet, so I don't want to judge too soon. But I just wanted to say that its on sale this week at Target for $2.99. That really inspired me to try it out!!! (I'm cheap).

aaaah no it doesn't! maybe that's why it didn't work out so well for me…

i gotta say, it did get softer as the day went by so maybe i was a little hasty to judge. i'm about to go to sleep (don't have time to retwist, been a long day so i spritzed it with some conditioner and shea'd it up) so i'll see what state my hair is in in the morning.

Kay C…sometimes that's all you can do! Don't fight it chica πŸ™‚

Puff, which formulation did you have? Does your have amodimethicone or not?

  • puff says:

i'm so sad – i tried sleek-n-shine yesterday and my hair just isn't loving it πŸ™ it's not as soft as it usually is, and it's kind of frizzy. it does have great hold though… le sigh. i guess i'm just going to have to suck it up and order another bottle of oyin's honey hemp (that plus carol's daughter's hair milk make my hair so so happy). maybe i'll use S'N'S as a detangler alongside HE hello hydration… i did get it on sale for $3 πŸ™‚

Yeah I was gonna say….enabling yes! Of course I went out and bought this. I have admitted that I am a PJ, but everyone has flaws right..lol. I can't wait to try it. I bought the HE totally twisted upon ur recommendation and I l-o-v-e it!

    LOL at you Nikki!

Girl, I live in the south! Humidity is like a condiment down here. It's always around! πŸ™‚

I've tried to seal the ends with Shea and even spray them with my trusty Lottabody setting lotion before putting in the rollers with the same results each time. Guess I'll let it do what it do, LOL!

  • CURLYNIKKI says:

    Thanks ladies!!!

anon, you can use it straight up…that's all I use on my face and body…and I use it to seal my ends and lay down frizzies on my crown and edges. This is what I do at night to lay down the frizzies:

'Scoop out a dime sized amount of Shea. Melt it between your palms, and apply in a downward motion to the top layers of your hair. It's a 'slicking' action to control some of the halo frizz.'

Nikki, as always your hair looks awesome. You said you applied Shea "butter" to the crown. Is this just natural, unrefined shea butter? I just purchased some unrefined shea butter to mix in my hair and skin products. I can apply it to my hair in its natural state?

Oh so now you want to apologize?!? LOL I agree with the ladies above! Day 3 looks beautiful! Thanks for giving me an arsenal of cheap conditioners!

Girl, you are such a product pusher! lol. I went out at lunch and picked this up from the Rite Aid up the street from my job.. It was even on-sale for $2.99, which was GREAT. I couldn't wait to try it either.. As soon as I just back to work, I closed my office door and squeezed a bit out and massaged it into my tresses.. Ooooo-weeee, the scent is lovely. Can't wait to co-wash this evening and do my TnC.

I still have to admit that the Garnier Sleek and Shine is kicking butt! Your 3rd day hair looks really fab compared to when using other products. I think this one is a winner for you.

  • CURLYNIKKI says:

    Thanks ladies!

Kayc, I only have this problem after 2-3 days when the curls have either (1) got wet in the shower, or (2) been slathered in a water based moisturizer. Even applying shea to the ends on day 3 or 4 makes them a bit shrinky. Putting an oil based or glycerin product on my 2nd or 3rd day TnC makes the ends shrink back into their natural curl pattern immediately.

The best advice I can give is leave it be and keep the ends out of water and humidity, lol.
    hth!

I liked the price. Bought a bottle at Walmart for less than 3 bucks! Can't wait to take my braids out to try it!

  • Natakue says:

oh nikki, i have so many other conditioners i have to finish first! why oh why must you tempt me so bad? haha!

and of course, your hair is looking good, as usual =)

  • KayC, The Quiet Storm says:

I've been doing the twist-n-curl and lately doing the same technique with braids and have a question…

When I initially take my rollers out, my ends have big curls that gradually shink into the original tight spirals in the first 24 hours. Does anyone else have this problem?

CurlyNikki, how do you keep your ends from shrinking back into the original tight spirals? That's the entire reason for the rollers, right?

Agree! Your hair does look even more beautiful than it did on Day 1.And i have to say your Blouse is just Fabolous:)
