Prettysunshyne- CurlyNikki Spotlight

Prettysunshyne is back, and she has cut her hair! Check out the interview below:

CN: How long have you been natural?

I’ve been natural for about 2 to 3 years. My hair was just about Bra Strap Length (BSL) before I cut it recently. I just did a BC June 20, 2009! Although my hair was already natural, I wanted a change..and I’ve been thinking about cutting my hair for a little bit now. So, I came across Mahogany Curls Youtube channel and I immediately fell in love with her TWA. I was like..ok…that’s it. I’m doing it!

CN: What is your regimen?

Before I cut my hair, I did wash & go’s on the regular..I’d wear my hair in a curly pony all the time. Or, I’d do the occasional twist out. I’d also flat-iron it once a month or so and wear it that way for about a week. Now that I’ve cut my hair, I just co-wash my hair in the shower with a cheap conditioner (V05 Moisture Milks/Tea Therapy) and apply Bed Head Moisture Maniac Conditioner as my leave-in. I add some oil when I’m finished..and that’s ALL!

CN: What is the one thing you’d tell a newbie to help her on her journey?

My best advice would be to block out all the negative comments/energy that you are going to receive. I say ‘ARE’ because not everyone will be accepting of your decision to go natural. But the lovely thing about that is, it doesn’t matter! What matters is your hair happiness. If choosing to wear your hair natural makes you happy, go for it!

CN: What do you do to your hair at night to preserve your curls?

Absolutely nothing now LOL! Well, that’s not entirely true..I DO sleep on a satin pillow case..every night. But that’s all I do.

CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?!

Being naturally glamorous has to be the best decision I’ve made. I loved my straight hair when it was relaxed…but I could never be versatile with it. Having natural hair allows me to wear different styles. Natural hair works for me and I absolutely love it. I don’t miss my relaxed hair or my long hair..at all.

Yo!! It's me again girl, the TWA looks wonderful on you! Super cute and modern. And I don't even know what you're talking about, you were so versatile even when you had relaxed hair in high school. I see that you are continuing to shake things up with your look. Very good tips, and the simple regimen does go a lonnng way. You're making me want to do a submission for the CurlyNikki spotlight or testimonial now. haha…I don't know if I'll be inspiring enough though. But thanks for the update and perpetuating the natural movement, we're taking over!! hahaha…

Thanks T. Kimberlyn!! I love it too..I don't miss my long hair..well..not YET anyway! LOL

  • T. Kimberlyn says:

Lovin the cut! I often think about if I'll cut my hair after it grows to a substantial length. I did love my low cut, but want to see how my natural hair is long.

    You look great both ways!
