Hola Chicas!
I’ve been incredibly lazy lately– haven’t henna’ed since June, haven’t deep conditioned in forever, and haven’t done my hair in more than a week :~O I have a dry, frizzy, hay stack sitting atop my head. Hot mess…seriously.
Today’s finally the day, lol maybe tomorrow. Why do today what I can put off until tomorrow, right?! Whether it happens tonight, or Saturday, here’s the plan:
- Shampoo with Cassia Bar (mehandi.com)
- Detangle with Generic Paul Mitchell the Detangler (from Sally’s)
- Apply Jamila henna for an overnight treatment
- Rinse thouroughly with Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Conditioner
- Moisturizing deep conditioner with Aubrey Organic’s Honey Suckle Rose and Jessicurl’s Weekly Deep Treatment
- Twist-n-Curl, of course…the kicker is that I’ll be testing out a *new* conditioner.
What are your hair plans for the weekend?
How do you trim your ends? We don't have natural hair stylist in Greenville, NC. At least I don't know of any and most barbers and stylist don't know how to do it. They cut of way too much.
Nikki you must be extremely busy at work. I know this blog is alot of work in itself too so I won't yell at you LOL I am at a conference so to make things easier I did an amla+maka treatment and then I rollerset my hair. When I get home on Wednesday I will deep condition with my DPR-11 for at least an hour, use a leave-in and apply shea butter to the ends.
Remember ladies, if you neglect your hair for a long period of time you might pay dearly for it later – tangles, split ends, fairy knots, cutting your hair, etc.. I know we lead busy lives and its hard, but we can't neglect our body and hair.
Tomorrow afternoon's lunch with the boys will probably translate into an evening drinking with the boys, so hair will be done Sunday night. Shampoo with some variety of Pantene – it was in the beauty cabinet, I didn't buy it – deep condition w/Aussie Deeeeeeep, two-strand twists. My goal is to make my twists last until Friday without my roots and edges frizzing like Little Orphan Annie.
I have my Mehandi Henna for African hair in my head as I type this. I plan to sleep in it overnight, rinse in the morning and deep condition with Karen's Body Beautiful Deep Conditioner. I have a meeting at 9:00 am. so I am doubting that I will have time to twist so I just plan to wear a wash n go that day and then in the evening do my twist n curl. 🙂
I may end up a hot mess – on vacay and didn't pack my go-to products. My hair is straight now, bout to use the hotel condish and see how it turns out :-/ I did bring some setting lotion and a glob of gel… Jesus be a fly hair day 🙂
I've been loving Aussie Moist and 3 min miracle…I will do a wash and go in morning with some KCCC. Go get my car window fixed @ dealer and just relax and CHILLAX…
Right now i'm doing a pre-poo of coconut oil, olive oil and cayenne pepper. Tomorrow I'm going to wash that out and do some twists.
Today I co-washed with total hydration and deep treated with Jessie Curl, sealed with shea butter. So……..this weekend I'm chillin. I used mixed chicks nothing special. It was not bad. But nothing special. I have 3b curls near my roots and transition curls on the end. Mixed chicks left my curls on the fine side. I still use it from time to time however, I suggest using the leave in conditioner with something that will add a little hold to the curls. Also, next day you will need to refresh with something, I used deva curl mister right, and set it free. Hope this helps.
lol… I have just rinsed out my henna …i have used khadi henna as usual, it is super sifted, and the mix (for me just plain h2o w/the henna)has a velvety texture. I just let it sit for 2 hours because this gives me the best results, i can highly recommend this brand.
Now, i am sitting here under my headwrap with a headful of HH intense mask (1st time using this) with my new crime novel and some apfelschorle (organic apple juice with sparkling water and a lemon slice). I will do my wash-and-go as usual with HH conditioner as a leave in. this works best for me these days.
Next week it will be nearly the same routine but amla is replacing the henna and mixed chicks leave-in conditioner is replacing the HH conditioner (i just ordered the mixed chicks leave in yesterday :-))
Nikki, have you ever used the mixed chicks products? Or the curl harmony products? If you or one of the other ladies have any experiences with these products Ã`d really appreciate a recommendation..
love from my little spa in berlin, Monika
We're gonna be some busy curlies this weekend! Thanks CarlaG for calling me out, lol. My bad!
Congrats to all the future BC'ers!!!! You must send your Journey to Natural stories once the deed is done. Godspeed 🙂
aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh, congratz Anonymous @ 4:33! I had to come back to be nosey. Plz document it. Take pix. We don't have to see but I'd suggest it, for you
I plan to BC this weekend!!!
it's so cool that you've asked! I feel important now. ha ha 😉
1.) Tomorrow, I plan to go to Target for a few neccesities in hopes that I can walk out with
a. Giovanni's Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo (have been meaning to try that forever!)
b. Herbal Essences' Totally Twisted (Hello Hydration has done me well so far. Beats the heck outta VO5 and Suave for me) but I love what Im hearing about this one so far so I wanna know wut the fuss is about
note: I somehow still wanna Suave's Coconut condish so hmmm I may be on the lookout for that as well
2.) Hopefully I can walk out of there with atleast one of the above mentioned items (have other priorites right now and workin on a tight budget) *sigh
3.) It's time for me to clarify. I'll be doing that tomorrow. If not w/ my wish list product, then I'll co wash w/ HE's HH and do an ACV rinse
a. let my hair air dry
b. spritz with water, and apply a bit of Hello Hydration as a leave in
4.) let my hair be free (no protective styles or cutesy styles for me tomorrow! haha)
5.) call it a D-A-Y 🙂 we're so blessed.
Its a Sabbath rest for me and my family. All hair is done Sun-Thurs. Fri sunset to sat sunset is a sabbath rest for me.
I am going to henna tonight and let it stay on overnight. Deep condition tomorrow morning and then twist n curl. Using all of CurlyNikki's pictorials, of course. ;D
i am not doing much this weekend. going to jazz in the park.Ihave been twisting my hair with oyine shine and define and finally , they turn out nice. so i will probably wet and retwist. I noticed that when i added a little cocconut oil the shrinkage was less. so for those who dont like the shrinkage and your hair likes oil maybe try a little bit. have a good weekend.
I'm going to wash, deep condition, and do my very first twist n curl. I'm so excited, I hope it comes out okay! Will be watching your video for hours! lol.
I see everyone is hennaing this weekend…I just rinsed my henna out, and I will be doing a twist-n-curl and letting it dry on my way to Texas 🙂
This weekend I'm going to prepare my hair for a Protein Treatment on Sunday by using my homemade hair mist (rose water, food grade aloe vera gel, glycerin, nettle tea and other herbs) and twisting with Whole Foods 365 Unscented Conditioner and sealing with a little dab of Alba's Unpetroleum Jelly on Friday and Saturday night. On Sunday after Church, I'm going to combine a little of Giovanni Smooth as Silk, Oyin Honey Hemp and a Canadian brand called London Drugs Apple Pectin Conditioners with honey, glycerin, agave nectar and my own homemade oil blend that I've infused with herbs for several hours. Then, I'm going to use my homemade hair mist and twist my hair with a protein free conditioner and seal with AUPJ and I'll be good for a week!
Ha Ha, CarlaG is a G for real. She put you on blast LOL.
I haven't hennaed since June either! Oh my I thought I was the only one. I will be getting on it this weekend as well. I don't feel so bad as the Henna OG has slacked up as well. 🙂
My hair is happy now because I finally went to the stylist for a trim after 3 years, LOL! (Good-bye about 2 inches of single strand knots and split ends)
Wearing a twist out from the salon visit on Sunday (Twists until last night) and will co-wash/deep condition Sunday afternoon and twist up to dry. Not much…trying to keep it simple!
YAY! I'm excited for Anonymous 11:51AM! Early BC's are the best BC's. I BC'd early too because I was so in love with those curls that were sprouting and couldn't wait to work with them. Have fun!!!!
Hmmm…hair plans? I am thinking about my BC. I am 10 months in my transition (I said I would transition for a year) We shall see…
I need to do the same thing. It's been awhile since I showed my hair some love. This weekend is a good time to do it.
I'm definitely doing a henna tonite too. I'll shampoo first with a Amla shampoo bar, then detangle with Aussie Moist conditioner, then apply my henna. I'll rinse out in the morning, deep condish with Pantene R/N mask, style with coconut oil and devacare one condish. The only thing new for me is the style…eithor I'll do a bantu knot out or flexi rod set. I'm still deciding. we'll see.
My plans are:
1. Co-wash with Suave (Tropical Coconut Conditioner) Friday evening;
2. Then put in the "For African Hair" henna from Mehendi.com (just got my extra supply in the mail this week!) overnight on Friday;
3. Rinse the henna out early Saturday morning w/ a Suave and Herbal Essence Hello Hydration mix;
4. Follow-up with a deep treatment made of Aubrey Organic's HoneySuckle Rose conditioner, castor oil, and jojoba oil;
5. And lastly do a "conditioner/aloe vera finger-twist to get my favorite hair-do now, a chunky-twisty, mini 'fro!!
*And the kicker is, I'm hoping to get this all accomplished before 1:00pm Saturday afternoon! *whew!
Trena
Deep condition and drip dry. Doing some renovation on my house and do want to do too much.
Pretty much the same as you – henna tonight, co-wash, deep condition and twist in the morning.
BTW – weren't you the one who threw down the "DT once a week" gauntlet earlier this summer??!!? ;0
I am going to be doing Kinky Twists I am so excited. I won't be doing a Henna in a while. Your hair is going to be so happy.
Pretty much the same thing except Saturday AM I will co wash, Apply my jamila henna, Pick up my daughter in Philly, Drive back (I will wear a headwrap). Saturday PM rinse with my TJ nourish and do a overnight DT. Sunday rinse and twist for the week.
Have a great weekend
