Meet Sheba…the impulsive BC’er!
CN: Were you a long term or short term transitioner, and why?
S: I was a short term transitioner. I always admired women with low haircuts but I thought that I would wait until I was 50 years old to do it! One day I decided that waiting was no longer an option, and after visiting the curlynikki blog, I did the BC that very same evening. My hair was always very healthy, but I suffered from severe dry scalp due to an allergy from the relaxers. I was afraid that eventually the damage from the chemicals would permanently damage my scalp. So I decided to go natural.
CN: When did you BC? What was your initial reaction to your natural hair?
S: I did the big chop on 08/26/2009. My initial reaction– I loved my hair! I wondered why I waited so long to change my hairstyle in the first place. My barber was reluctant to chop it all off, so he left about an inch at the top. I was afraid that he may have left some relaxer behind, so I got another big chop on 09/03/2009– a low buzz cut. After the the second cut, I started to miss my hair but within a week it grew out, so I felt fine again.
CN: What products are you using?
S: My products include the Optimum shampoo and conditioner line. I use extra virgin olive oil to add shine and oil to my scalp. I simply wake up and brush my hair in the morning. A coworker recommended that I wear the messy look without brushing, so I will give that a go for awhile. I am hoping to grow my hair out so that I will have some styling options. Right now I am simply loving the low cut!
CN: Why did you choose to go natural?
S: I am a highly allergic person so I thought it was in my best interest to stop relaxing my hair. I needed to rid my hair of the chemicals! I also wanted a new look and thought I would explore what my natural hair texture was really like. I didn’t get a perm until I was 13 years old (after begging my mom). If I knew then, what I know now, I would have been relaxer free my entire life!
Thanks everyone! I love my new cut

A short cut looks good on anyone who doesn't have a lumpy head. I rocked a short cut my junior year of college and it looked great on me. She has a pretty face to go with a unique hairstyle!
