We’ve got a live one! This curly diva BC’ed last month!
CN: Were you a long term or short term transitioner, and why?
TBC: I was a short term transitioner. I went exactly 3 months and did the BC!! My bestie started transitioning because the chemicals in the relaxers were harming her skin…..She shared some vital info about the chemicals and I figured I should stop ‘harming’ my hair. I’ve always loved the big curly fros I’ve seen so when she did the actual BC I was in love with it!!! I was really impatient and just couldn’t wait for all the relaxed ends to grow out so, I called my mom and my bestie, and told them to chop it off!!!!
CN: When did you BC? What was your initial reaction to your natural hair?
TBC: I BC’ed on August 31, 2009. I was SHOCKED!!!! I was ok the rest of the day, but when I woke up the next morning, all I could say to myself was what in the heck did I just do to myself?!?!? LOL!!
CN: What was your transition routine?
TBC: In the beginning I would co-wash every 2 days and just flat iron. Then after doing a little research and my bestie chewing my ear off about the damage I was causing by using heat everyday, I started getting braid-outs. They were the absolute BEST!!! I generally used any kind of conditioner for my washes and Shea butter oil and coconut oil
CN: What was your staple hair style during the transition?
TBC: My staple style was a braid out…..I dabbled with the bantu knots a couple of times but hated the out come!!!
CN: How did you moisturize your hair to prevent breakage at the new growth line?
TBC: I really didn’t do anything special on that aspect!! I just used a heck of a lot of conditioner!! I’m the queen of conditioning!!! Even after the BC, I still go through a bottle every 4 days.
CN: Why did you choose to go natural?
TBC: Ever since I was little and started watching the show ‘Sister, Sister’ with Tia and Tamara Mowry, I have been hooked on natural hair. I even wanted a curly perm just to get my hair to look like that!! My sister went natural at the beginning of the year and I saw her texture and REALLY loved it…I figured mine should be about the same so when my bestie told me that she was going ‘au natural’ I said why the heck not!!! So far I am really enjoying my natural hair…..I just can’t wait for it grow some more so I can really show it off!!!! BTW, Nikki thank you for being that ‘light at the end of the tunnel. This site has helped me a lot in my transition stage and I couldn’t thank you enough for being there with a new story for me to stay on track!
Thanks Chica!

And we sisters be having issues with our beauty! We are some uniquely beautiful women! God is always right!!!
Thank you all ssssoooo much for your generosity and your support!!! This was a GIANT leap for me, especially since my hair has NEVER been above shoulder length!!!!
Someone asked about the products: I co-wash everyday with baking soda and V05(I love the moisture milk kind), rinse w/ cold water, and finish with coconut oil and shea butter.
Thanks again Nikki and my beautiful natural sistas!!! Without you this would NOT have been possible!!
That last picture is gorgeous!!! *Not that the other ones aren't but THAT one stands out!! Love your makeup.

You are working that TWA. You are sexy…go 'head girl!
OH.MY.GOSH!!! MY JAW LITERALLY DROPPED WHEN I SAW YOUR PICS OF YOUR TWA!!! STUNNING, JUST ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! Clearly you were pretty before, but in my humble opinion, you looked average, like any other regular person I would see in the mall and not glance at twice, cute but nothing special! No offense! But w/ your new hair you look SO EXOTIC AND BEAUTIFUL!!! It shows off our facial structure so well!!! I'm gonna stop cuz i could go on, but please understand how sincere I'm being, and please NEVER go back to permed hair!!! Cuz you are WORKIN IT OUT!!! FIERCE!!!
Love, Michelle

I love your hair!! I BC'd August 22nd and I am still happy. I had to take a benydryl to get my hair done, everything made me itch. I had to set myself free!!

You Go GIRL! Your TWA is what's up! i LOVE it! Keep on Keepin on my natural hair sista!
Wow! Congrads!! Your hair looks wonderful!! CN, i've been following your site for a while. I come to this site faithfully and decided to do the BC on Agust 1, 2009. I went from BSL to a curly bob. I was so stoked!! It took some getting used to but it's changed my life! I've started a work out blog(workoutchic.blogspot.com), i havn't let heat even look at my hair, and i've realized the benifits of extra, extra, conditioner!! I've also encouraged a few more people to BC and i've directed them to your site for inspiration!! CN, thanks!!! I'm still learning so please keep those great articles coming!!!
Wow! I bc'd in August as well. I was relaxing my hair and it never got straight! So I gave it all up and transitioned for four months. I hated managing the two textures.
Too cute! Love the blue eye shadow and nicely arched brows.
You look gorgeous!
SO PRETTYYY DARN ITTT!
