AfrikanLatina started a thread about artist Loanne Hizo Ostlie’s genuinely diverse Barbie dolls. Pop over there, and weigh in! Would you buy your daughter or niece a doll like this?
I know I would 🙂 Growing up, my parents only allowed Black dolls in the house anyway…this is a huge step in the right direction!
Happy Halloween,
Nik
p.s. submit pics from your costume parties! I want to see BIG BODACIOUS hair! I’ll post as I get them, since my boring self is in for the night.
LOVE IT! I would most definitely buy this for my daughter.
I wish I only had black dolls in my house. Growing up I naturally only wanted black dolls anyway. That Barbie is beautiful. I wish she was on sale
i want one! this barbie is stunning! i want one. 🙂
I don't have a daughter or niece, but I would buy this for myself Lol. She's Gorgeous!!
where can i actually buy a doll. it says on ebay but i am not finding them.
this is soooooo beautiful!! wow..this is awesome! i hope to find this in stores…
Omg, I loooooooooooove this doll. It's so beautiful.
I love this Barbie.
heck yeah (if I had kids)!! I also had black barbies and loooved my special edition Nigerian barbie who rocked a natural. So, yes this is most definitely a step in the right direction. Hmm, I might just buy one for myself 😉
i love the dolls!! I wanted to submit my halloween pics but didn't know how 🙁
Showed these to my daughter & she loves them! I'll have to get her one, or a few. 🙂
I LUV the Barbie with the TWA & the scarf!!
I sat up and went WOW when I saw this picture. (I don't normally do that.) Whoa. LOVE it. She's so pretty!!!
wow this had my jaw droppin for a quick minute, im so happy how we as people have advanced. now blc girls can have dolls that reflect their unique beauty.yay
Don't forget my girl Christie, Barbie's African-American friend, who has been around for a while. She has sported a wide variety hairstyles over the years. Nikki you must do a **yahoo image** search on "Christie Barbie doll." I stumbled across a few flickr images in which she looks just like YOU, sporting a big ol' twist-n-curl. LOL
I would DEFINITELY buy a couple of these for my daughter and nieces! I love the one with the scarf and the TWA. She is fierce and actually looks like my mom. Thanks for alerting me to this!
I would definitely buy my daughter one. She has a variety of dolls. White, black, hispanic, asian, lol A VARIETY!!!! I think it is important to have a variety in every household. Whether your child is biracial, white, or black. My issue is the hair, and these dolls really tackle that issue. I'm tired of seeing white dolls with straight hair, black dolls with straight hair, and so on. It is so hard to find a doll with curly hair!!!! Especially one being sold in stores. It's a shame that we have to order these curly haired dolls off of the internet. I know I can't wait until they hit the shelves. Everytime my daughter see's someone with her hair type she says "MAMA!! LIKE ME!!" all surprised and proud. lol So I know she would go bananas over those dolls.
She's awesome! i wish i had this growing up as well.
I love the dreads. I love the chocolate skin. I'm not a big fan of the makeup, but I guess you can't have it all.
These barbies are BEAUTIFUL! I want one. I would have loved to have had these dolls growing up.
this is amazing. thats all that needs to be said. (yay i got the first comment!!)
