We fell in love with the beautiful KeetaRay back in June when she submitted her Journey to Natural interview. Now she’s back with even more info on how she maintains her gorgeous locks!
CN: How long have you been natural?
KR: It will be a year on November 22, 2009!!!
CN: What is your regimen?
KR: My regimen isn’t strict, per se. Typically, I will co-wash once per week, two-strand twist using my shea butter & coconut oil mixture (I mix myself and whip it up) & also spraying each section that I twist with a water/Lottabody (setting lotion) mix, let it air dry overnight, and untwist in the morning. I will style it in a puff or a pull it to the side. I’ve also done frohawks on my twist outs, as well as just worn them out.
CN: What is the one thing you’d tell a newbie to help her on her journey?
KR: Patience is key!! I knew that I wanted healthy, fabulous hair with no chemicals, so I stuck to that decision and did tons of research online so I’d know what works best for me and my type of hair after I was done transitioning. Because of all my research, being natural was really easy to get used to.
CN: How do you maintain length?
KR: I like wash-and-gos for the summer, but I’ve noticed my hair seems more moisturized and grows a teeny bit faster when I do my twist-outs. I moisturize my ends at night either w/castor oil or the shea butter/coconut oil mixture I have. I get my ends trimmed ever 3-4 months. I haven’t straightened my hair yet (just blow-outs when I get my ends trimmed).
CN: How do you protect your style at night?
KR: I wear a satin bonnet or satin scarf to bed. Sometimes I’ll retwist it to refresh my curl definition for the next day, but most nights I just pull into a high puff and put on my bonnet, shake it out/fluff it up in the morning.
CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?!
KR: The ease of it!!! I can count on one hand (and don’t even need all the fingers!) how many “bad” hair days I have had since becoming natural! What’s funny is that those so-called bad hair days looked good to other people, surprisingly. LOL

I've cut all my dreadlocs off a year ago. And, i have thinning hair in the front of my head, being wearing a wig eversense hear is in natural state what you recommend.
I agree with her about the bad hair days. I've had more bad hair days when I was permed.
Gorgeous!
Fab! I love the Frohawk too…I have not been able to make that work for me…you've inspired me to try again…hopefully I will work it like Keeta-Ray and not Elvis!
What beautiful hair…I needed the inspiration. Thanks a bunch.
omg i have to get some coconut oil! i hear so much about it but i have none!!!
Another head of beautiful hair! Thank you for the shea/coconut mixture idea. I actually use both, but I've never mixed them together.
love her puff
Very nice hair….love the frohawk especially. ~KF519
oh my…beautiful hair!
I love her frohawks. Too cute!
I agree about the bad hair days. I never relaxed, but I used to straighten all the time and I had plenty of bad hair days with straight hair. With my hair curly, even when I think it looks a hot mess I always get compliments!
