Meet Regina…she shows us that a simple, consistent routine yields excellent results!
CN: How long have you been natural?
R: I was relaxed from age 5 until age 24. My last relaxer was in January 2008 and my big chop was May 7, 2008. I’ve been natural for 17 months and counting…..
CN: What is your current regimen?
R: I shampoo weekly with Kinky-Curly Come Clean and follow with a deep treatment using Hairveda Sitrinillah Masque or Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner. I also use Cassia as a deep treatment once per month. After conditioning, I detangle with Afro Detangler and moisturize with Qhemet’s Amla and Olive Heavy Cream. I braid and seal my hair with Hairveda Cocasta Shikakai Oil. I wear the braids for 4-5 days and I take them down towards the end of the week and wear a fluffed braid-out until wash day.
CN: How do you maintain length? Moisture?
R: Protective styles and no heat usage really help. Sealing my ends with Cocasta Shikakai Oil helps seal in the moisture and protect my ends from creating single-strand knots.
CN: How do you protect your curls a night?
R: I wear a satin sleep cap (non-elastic) to bed and under my crocheted tams to protect my hair. I’d like to try a satinsakk. I’ve heard that they work great! www.satinsakks.com
CN: What would you tell a new natural, or transitioning diva?
R: Keep your scalp clean and your hair moisturized, sealed, and protected. Deep conditioning is your friend!
CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?
R: The versatility in styling and not having to run away from rain, humidity, and swimming. Natural hair has lots of personality!
CN: Anything else you want to add?
R: Once you find the products that work well with your hair, stick with them! You’ll save a lot more money purchasing staples. Thanks for featuring me on your site! It truly was an honor!
Simply beautiful, soror 🙂
