TGIF Curlies!
I woke up today with an itch to revisit SheaMoisture Shea Butter Leave-in… my dry strands are craving its rich goodness. Since I gave away my stash in one of our many giveaways, I’m hoping the local beauty supply store will have some.
This evening I plan to henna (for the first time since December), and leave it in overnight. I will DT on Saturday with ______ and leave-in SheaMoisture for my TnC. So my dear curlies, I ask of you, what new moisturizing DT should I try? I’m fresh out of Jessicurl (my fav) and Aubrey. I’d like to try something I can pick up from Ulta or Sallys, preferably that is free of protein.
Thanks in Advance!
Nik
Nexxus Humectress… after leaving it on for about an hour, my hair felt so moisturized and soft.
@jada07: COSIGN on the Aussie moist 3 minute! Left it in for 45 (doing homework) and my hair was AMAZING soft and detangling was easy for the first time since I began my transition!
Word to you curls: The Weleda Rosemary Hair Oil was found at my local "Sunflower Market" for a low-low of $7.46. I'm rejoicing! Since I just DC'd yesterday with Oyin's Honey Hemp conditioner, avocado oil, and honey, I will use this next week. The results were Ahh-some!
where can you get the SheaMoisture leave in other than online? I don't think I have ever seen this at my Sally's or Beauty Supply, but I have never looked for it specifically…do beauty supply stores usually carry this?! Thanks so much!!!
Hola Chicas!
Thanks for the recs…
So i still haven't henna'ed. I'm about to go mix some up right now. I really want to try the elasta qp dpr stuff, but I couldn't find it. I ended up buying the SheaMoisture and a jar of lustrasilk. I'll make it work π I owe you guys some pics… I'll take some this week.
later gators!

I gotta say – the treatment from LHC is awesome!

Conditioner ( be careful which you choose – curdle-ing is nasty!) I use Suave naturals coconut, honey, and coconut oil.. proportions = 4 parts condish 1 part honey and they use aloe gel I use oil…never tried the aloe cant figure out what on earth i would expect it to do π Nuke if for a few seconds so the oil melts…mix it like mad I have used it on wet/damp and dry hair…OBVIOUSLY i need a lot more when it is dry and honestly I don't see that much of a difference…your hair will be like buttta! It may make it hang straighter, but the effect washes out. You can leave it on 30 minutes to an hour with heat – rinse well and enjoy π
ELASTA QP DPR-11 is my fave. It does have at least one cone in it though. But man, oh, man…it has gotten me out of some tough knots! It cheap too! And the 11 stands for 11 really good herbal extracts (rosemary, and the like)…all of which are at the top of the ingredient list. You can find it on the ground at a well-stocked beauty supply store like Beauty World.
I love EO Lemon Verbena conditioner. I get a 32 oz bottle from Marshalls for $8. Just mix in a little coconut MILK and avocado oil for a DT.
I like Aussie Moist 3 minute miracle. Of course, i leave it on for more than 3 minutes. π
Try a mixture of extra virgin coconut oil and EVOO. It works wonders for many on your forum.
Why not try Aussie Moist???
Organic Root Stimulator replenishing conditioner. The only one I use, it has a small amt of protein…..but i'm very protein sensitive(hair hate giovinni products) and it works great for me!
It's at sallys in the big container.

Luscious Locks Moisturizing Hair Mask
I'm going to pick this one up along with the Cold Weather Regimen package and take advantage of FREE Shipping and a FREE hair butter. The scents Chammomile Sage and Lavander Vanilla just sounds wonderful (still building up my "Tonight's the Night" product stash.
Hope this helps, Lady Nikki!
I like Elasta DPR-11 which is protein free.
I would suggest the Giovanni Magnetic Restruxturing Conditioner,
I got it at Marshall for $4.
This post is right on time, I was already planning to go purchase this on Saturday morning.
I love that hair oil, I use it too. I mix in a little bit in my DT's and leave it in overnight. Makes my curls incredibily soft!
Surprisingly, Target! BSS may have it also. It's about $12/$13 but a little really does go a long way. I've had my last bottle for a while; I only use a couple tablespoons in my conditioning mixes. We'll be snowbound this weekend, me and my daughters may take advantage of the down time to do an extended DC ourselves!
sounds yummy! where do you get it?
I would suggest mixing in some Weleda Rosemary Hair Oil! It's a little pricey for such a small bottle but a little goes a long way! Here's a little more about it if you're unfamiliar with it:
