CN: How long have you been natural?
I have been natural for 16 months. I guess I’m still new to being a Natural Diva!
CN: What is your current regimen?
My regimen is pretty simple. I shampoo weekly with a natural tea tree shampoo and follow with an avocado conditioner. I use Bee Mine’s Hair Milk and Curly Butter for my two strand twist out.
CN: How do you handle shrinkage? How do you maintain moisture?
No one told me about the notorious shrinkage of a wash and go!!! Whew what a lesson learned! So to maintain my length, I do a wet two strand twist and let it self dry. I REFUSE to use heat on my natural hair. For moisture I use a mixture of coconut oil and shea butter. This is an awesome mixture when melted together and then used at room temperature.
CN: How do you protect your curls at night?
To protect my hair at night, I re-twist and apply a very small amount of coconut oil to the ends and cover with a satin bonnet. Simple hunh?
CN: What would you tell a new natural, or transitioning diva?
Find a group of divas that are going to encourage you. I created a great support group on facebook for like minded divas when I realized I wanted to transition: For Colored Girls Who are Going Natural When the Relaxer is Enuf. This group was the best support system ever for me. We share hair stories, products, styles and just great discussions.
CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?
The best thing about being naturally glamorous is the ability to have options. I can be bone straight, curly, or wavy! I love the versatility.
CN: Anything else you want to add?
The best advice I can give to new natural or transitioning divas is to enjoy the process of being natural. Like you, your hair has personality. Some days it’s cool some days its stubborn, but enjoy it!
@ justme… Yes I was visiting from Charleston on Easter Sunday at Antioch. Small world.
Nice. Deronda did I see you at Antioch on Easter Sunday?
You hair is absolutely stunning!!!!
Thanks so much. I don't make the shampoo neither the conditioner. I bought the shampoo from an African Store. I think you can make your own. Tea Tree Oil is a must have for me. I use Bee Mine's avocado conditioner.
I love your hair! Do you make the tea tree shampoo and avocado conditioner yourself?
Beautiful hair! Love the versatility. Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
By the way, VERY nice hair!
Somewhat off the subject, but I got a very nice compliment from a male co-worker today….He said the my natural looked "very becoming" on me.
YAY ME! lol
Hey Deronda! I know her from back home… Glad to see you on here hun, loved the interview!!!
