Y’all know I’m a Product Junkie (PJ), but I always return to the same ones (herbal essence hello hydration or totally twisted, and DevaCurl). That says a lot about those lines and how my curls feel about them.
Right now, however, my favorite detangling conditioners are Yes to Carrots and Yes to Cucumbers! I feel that they provide just as much slip as the Herbal Essence conditioners, with a bit more moisture and higher quality ingredients. Of course this comes with a higher price… so we’ll see if it’s still a fav in the coming months. It takes a ton of conditioner to detangle my hair, and I can go through a bottle in 2 weeks.
So ladies, which slippery, moisturizing, and luscious smelling detangling conditioner is tickling your fancy?
I love say yes to carrots! I used it for the first time today and it detangled my curls so great. I did not have to spend alot of time combing out and it made my hair feel so soft. I say yes to carrots!
When I use otc products its the yes to carrots and cucumbers line – 2.99 @ Marshall's! Or Garnier Frutris, the orange labled one. I have almost every product for that line. Its awesome. P.s. the anti-humidity styling milk, and pliable clay rocks!
FOR ALL YOU CURLIES OUT THERE CAROLS DAUGHTERS'HAIR SMOOTHIE IN BLACK VANILLA IS AWESOME!!! I HAVE LONG ,BLONDE CURLY HAIR AND THIS IS THE ONLY HAIR CONDITIONER I USE. USE ALONG WITH BLACK VANILLA SHAMPOO, AND THEN THE HAIR MILK FOR SMOOTHING MY CURLS . GO TO HSN.COM TO GET YOUR GOODIES OR IF YOU LIVE NEAR SEPHORA, YOU CAN GET THESE AMAZING PRODUCTS. BEST PART? ALL NATURAL AND NO CHEMICALS. DO THIS LADIES AND YOU WILL BE IN CURL HEAVEN.
PS DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE OUIDAD PRODUCTS EVER! SO MANY BAD CHEMICALS. GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HAIR
Due to your suggestion, I just bought YTCarrots this week, I loved it!!! I also wanted to pick YTCucumbers, but I only say conditioner for color treated hair. Does YTCucumbers also have conditioner for non-color treated hair?
i luvvvv ytc, it smells yummy and my hair is so soft after i rinse, sometimes i just leave it in. i've been using ganier fructis (sleek and shine) for years! the whole line up is great for curlies. and if you haven't tried their molding clay, it's great! it smells great and it holds your hair in place just as shea butter would instead of gel (i like that dry hold)
-tora, hsv al
The Giovani Triple Treat Tea Tree Oil Conditioner. Found a huge sized bottle in Marshall's over the holiday break and boy was I happy about that. It detangles hair well with the use of very little product
I KNOW I am sooo late on this post Nikki, but my fav right now is: Garnier Fructis TRIPLE NUTRITION FORTIFYING CREAM CONDITIONER. OMG.. I would cut somebody over this conditioner. LOL that stuff is the business…..~ Micaiahty
Suave Professionals Almond and Shea Butter Conditioner is the bomb, and it is very cheap.
I really like Giovanni Smooth as Silk but I don't understand why pay so much when Herbal Essence Hello Hydration does the same thing for less than half the price. Giovanni SAS $7.99-Whole Foods, HE Hello Hydration $2.97-Walmart!
Bumble and Bumble Super Rich is the definitely the "slipperiest" conditioner I have found, kind of pricey.. I buy by the gallon on ebay and it lasts almost a year.
My favorite detangling condish are Trader Joes TTT and Nourish Spa, Giovanni SAS and Elucence MBC. JCarter Nutrient Replenish condish is pretty good too but I have to use more of it to really detangle well. Like KBB Luscious Locks but a bit expensive so I try to keep it to the ones I can get on the ground!
For leave in, Giovanni Direct and KCKT work the best for me!
DEFINITELY Giovanni Smooth as Silk Conditioner! It's just great all around.
Also, HE Hello Hydration for sure and Organix Cocunut Milk Conditioner.
My hair loves anything super creamy for detangling!
I love the Yes to Cucumbers conditioner and then the KCKT afterwards. They play nice together and leave my hair soft and detangled. I am transitioning so finding products that make the process easier is important. I use both products on my daughter hair which is natural along with Carol's daughter Tui Smoothie as a deep conditioner and these products work wonders on her 4a/4b hair as well. FYI, Yes to Cucumbers has a leave in conditioner with pretty much all the same ingredients as the Yes to Cucumbers Condish but you don't get as much in the leave in condish. Stick with the regular conditioner, it does the same thing.
I'm in love with Aussie Moist. As som of the other ladies said, it has great slip and leaves my hair so soft. It also doesn't hurt that it smells great. I just picked up some Yes to Cucumbers at Ross via another CN'er for $3.99 (good looking out by the way). I'll try that once I take my mini twists out 🙂
My fav condish is tresemme naturals nourishing moisture conditioner. Im in love with this! Tons of slip and it smells good. Definitely worth the money1
I love YTC! I bought it based off of Nikki's suggestion and I am glad I did!!
i'm very much into all natural products in my hair (and skin) so I'm loving Everyday Shea from Whole Foods and I got extra slip when I mixed it with DevaCurl Heaven in Hair conditioner. i use this mix for my cowashes and its great.
Hands down (did you hear that slap on the table?)
Renpure "My Pretty Hair is Parched" Conditioner.
(Two for one sale 'til May 8 $6.99!)
Hey Curlies…. I work at Rite Aid and from time to time they have GREAT sales on our beloved products. For instance, I bought 3 bottles of YTC for 64 cents! I now have a closet full! How you ask? COUPONS!!! I always stock up on HE and Garnier usually purchasing them for a $1.50 a bottle. By them on sale plus a coupon!
Be smart product junkies!!! I am!
I must have bought every single product ever mentioned on this blog, but right now my fave combo of conditioners is Yes to Cucumbers for detangling, Suave Professionals Moisturizing Almond and Shea Butter for cowashing, and Organix Smoothing Shea Butter conditioner as my leave in. I used this combo this past weekend and my hair is so soft and moisturized, and for the first time I think ever, there was no clump of hair left in my shower drain. My curls are soft and defined and I'm loving them!
Garnier Fructis Garnier Fructis Garnier Fructis Garnier Fructis!
I am Loving the Tresemme Naturals condintioner. It smells so good.
I, too, have an addiction to products, but Aussie Moist is a conditioner that I will always love. Like the last post says, it's great for moisture and my hair stays soft as I do my protective styles. Target usually has it on sale and you can get it in a very big size. That way, I can use as much as I want.
Currently, I am in love with Aussie Moist. It takes me just a couple of minutes to detangle with my fingers because it has excellent slip. Also, the moisture it provides is over the top. Some of my other favorites are VO5 Strawberries and Cream, Suave Coconut Conditioner and Suave Humectant. I have been thinking about trying the Tresemme Naturals line and have heard really good things about it. Perhaps I will try that next if I ever fall out of love with the Aussie Moist or my pjism gets the best of me.
About Tresemme Naturals Silicone-Free Conditioner and the alcohols listed in the ingredients. Don't know if this makes a difference for those who are on the fence about alcohol. The first two alcohols are the fatty, moisturizing or slippery sort– stearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol. There's more on on the various types of alcohol in hair products at the link posted below, which states that all alcohols are not drying and some are nice for the hair.
http://blog.treasuredlocks.com/2008/05/08/is-alcohol-drying-for-hair/
The isopropyl and alcohol is at the very bottom of the ingredients list. I've found the Tresemme Naturals conditioner to be very moisturizing after several uses and so far, it plays nice with Kinky Curly Styling Custard, but is cheaper than Knot Today, which has cetyl alcohol. I guess it depends on what's most important to you and what works for your hair and wallet.
i've seen this at the store and am reluctant to buy it…i started using giovanni though and i LOVEEEE it. love love love.
I was going to but that big bottle of Tresemme naturals until I saw alcohol as on of the top 3 ingrients. I usually use totally twisted mixed with the super cheap old school standby Queen Helenes Cholesterol. I am trying to break away from that b.c of the mineral oil and what not in it. But it does wonders for detangling.
Hello Curly Nikki,
I purchased DevaCurl One Conditioner because you are always raving about it. However, when I got the conditioner I noticed that the list of ingredients on Curlmart didn't match the ingredients on the bottle. So I contacted curlmart and they contacted the distributor and found out they have changed DevaCurl One Conditioner. So now the new DevaCurl One has a lot of fillers. Curlmart has updated their website with the new ingredients so you can take a look. I was wondering have you used the new DevaCurl One Conditioner and how is it working on your hair?
So in love with my Hello Hydration. I left the Suave Humectant for it and I couldn't be happier.
im stuck on Herbal Essences It's a Curl Thing as of late, REEEALY doing it for me right nw… also, Tresemme Naturals?!?! where hv i been? must try 😀

VO5 Strawberries & Cream
Say Yes to Carrots
Suave Coconut Conditioner
SisterBoyd
suave naturals almond and shea or tresumme naturals/tresumme moisture rich. provides excellent slip for detangling, smells nice, dont have to use a whole lot and great price. although it has the Isopropyl alcohol I dont have a problem with dryness because I usually deep condition with an extra moisturizing conditioner after anyway so it may be good balance for me.
I luv the YTC, im going to have to try the YTCucumbers now. I have the YTCucumbers leave in conditioner though, but didnt use it enough to give a proper review. Wow i wanted to try the new Tresemme Naturals but now that i see it has isopropyl alcohol in it i wont be buying. I wonder why they would put that in there.
I just ordered Yes to Carrots so I'll be actually deep conditioning with that tonight… I like the slip of Hello Hydration but I have to use way too much of it, and I hate that feeling… I can never get it out of my hair afterwards. I have also used Just for Me Hair Milk, and I like the way it makes my hair feel… I don't know though. My hair seems to be pretty picky 🙁 lol
Wen Sweet Almond Mint conditioner
Kinky Curly Knot Today!
I'm still diggin Hello Hydration!! I bought this product sometime last year and ended up taking it right baq to the store..i dont remember being to fond of the smell personally…
Definitely Trader Joe's Nourish Spa. I'd like to try Tresemme Naturals as well.
Herbal Essence conditioners are the best. The one I CONTINUE to go back to for the BIG bottle is Herbal Essence Hello Hydration! Love it.
I found a mini bottle of SYC at Target, so I'm trying it tonight for $2. Not too bad. – poeticlyspkng
– Jane Carter Solution Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner
– DevaCurl One Condition
Why oh Why did I read these comments,I want to run out and try them all, lol.
But, I personally like Kinky curly knot today, Hello Hydration and Aussie Moist.
Tresemme Naturals and Tresemme Moisture Rich conditioner! I like the TMRC better than Hello Hydration and me and HH were inseperable for a while so that says alot! I can detangle with my fingers only with TMRC unlike Hello Hydration :/
Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle and Desert Essence Green Apple and Ginger
I may not be able to get a comb through my hair, but as soon as I get in the shower, wet the hair and apply either of these conditioners I can simply run my fingers through my hair and it's detangled. Period.
But I'm always open to new products. I'm beginning to develop a secret stash. :~}
For me, it's Oyin Honey Hemp Conditioner. I also use it as a leave-in.
im transitioning and I use Knot Today by Kinky Curly…that's the only thing that has worked for my two textures…I tried some of the HE conditioners but they didn't work too well. I'll probably try them again once i'm fully natural because the Knot Today is expensive! – Jess
I wanted to try the TResemme naturals line but I toke it back b/c the ingredients contained isopropry alcohol and alcohol!
im still trying to find a good conditioner without cones or protein. i didn't want to use herbal essences cause i figured it had too many 'chemicals' in it. i love suave naturals but it's not heavy enough for me to have proper slip. im now using costco brand (kirkland) which is very thick but the protein is too much for my hair so it leaves my hair limp after a wash. not sure what to try next, any suggestions??? thank you in advance.
Now, they have Yes to Tomatoes, too! I guess I'll have to get them all and see which works best for me! 😉
now that i've gone totally cone free and trust, I miss my love hello hydration- I would have to say it would be Trader Joe's brand and OyinHandmade Honey Hemp.
I also really love Tresemme Naturals Silicon Free Conditioner as well as my mainstays, Hello Hydration and Aussie Moist.
I am loving the new tresemme naturals conditioner as well! I bought it last week and have used it 2 times and already it is a staple for me. Ladies it detangles so well and the ingredients are awesome. Like another poster said the 25 ounces for about $4-5 can't be beat. I also love:
1)V05 tea therapy conditioner (before the ingredient change)
2)herbal essences totally twisted
3)aubrey organics honeysuckle rose
4)Giovanni smooth as silk
Herbal Essences' Hello Hydration and Aussie Moist do it for me.
ChrsLvsBks ~:o)
I love the Giovanni Smooth as Silk conditioner-great slip!
I too am a PJ…As soon as you reviewed YTC, I saw it at Target when I was looking for the other products that have recently been popping up (they didn't have them). So I snagged the YTC and the Aussie Sydney Smooth. I DO like YTC for detangling!!!!! Sydney Smooth makes my (usually poofy) hair hang, when it's wet. I will be doing reviews on both of them soon…and I just have to give you kudos for reviewing that Double Detangler comb. It was like heaven combing through my hair with the comb and the YTC!! GOOD JOB NIKKI! LOL
My other fav detangling conditioners are:
GVP (Sally') Paul Mitchell The Detangler
HE Hello Hydration
Any coconut conditioner
Definitely the new Tresemme Naturals! I love that stuff!
I am in LOVE with Organics Hair Mayonnaise by Africa's Best. My mother used it when I was a child as a DC and thats what I do too. My hair is soft even after I rinse. I have reccently used Mixed Chicks DC and I like it…a lot(but my wallet doesn't). Very easy to finger detangle my 3C/4A curls but it has soo many bad ingredients(just like my Mayonnaise). So maybe one day I can find one I can leave in for a while.
-E'Lise
I l-ve yes to carrots, hello hydration, and elucence mbc.
DevaCurl One C, KCKT, and the new Tresemme Naturals. They all provide different things, so I can never really make my mind up.
I love, love, love Elasta QP Light Detangling Condish! It has great slip and helps detangle my fine, kinky, coarse, hair. I have used it since my press-n-curl days and it never disappoints. Kinda pricey but well worth it.
ditto to Tresemme Naturals!!!
I love the new Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Silicone-Free Conditioner. 25 fluid ounces for $4.99.
I'm still loving Trader Joe's Nourish Spa Conditioner. I'm the same way though – I can go through a bottle in 2 weeks. But luckily it's only $2.99 a bottle! :O)
I tried Hello Hydration last night (first time) and I feel in love!
