Meet Mrs Jacobs… on her second go round, and truly embracing her texture!

MrsJacobs- Naturally Glam Hair Idol
This is my second time going natural. I will be 2 years natural august 4, 2010. The first go round I really didn’t how to care for my natural tresses. This time around has been a much better experience.

My favorite style is a wash and go. Currently I co-wash with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration every day followed by JPure Natural Instincts, lastly aloe vera gel or Hawaiian silky dry look gel to enhance my curls. I shampoo with henna sooq shampoo bars once a week, and I condition with whatever I have in my cabinet mixed with oils. I am still on the hunt for a great deep conditioner. I also love ayurvedic methods and experiment with it. So far I love vatika coconut hair oil and cassia.

I have been able to maintain my length by not over trimming or cutting my hair. It’s been over a year since I have used the scissors. Since I have been natural (the second time) I have not once used heat. I am sort of medium maintenance and if my hair were to be flat ironed that would be a lot of work for me lol. I like to wet my hair add something simple and go.

At bedtime I massage in JPure Natural Instincts making sure to cover my ends. JPure is an all natural unrefined shea butter, jojoba oil, apricot kernel whipped mix that I have created and sell. I tie my satin scarf on to protect my hair. When I wake up my hair is soft and fluffy. The only reason I redo my hair in the morning is because I sleep horrible and it’s always flat. I love my hair and I always want it to look great.

To my newly natural ladies I would say

1. Be aware of the ingredients. Do your research.
2. Less is More! Don’t mix everything together the results can get nasty.
3. It’s ok to try new things just don’t go broke doing so.

To my transitioning divas–

1. If you are going to wear a weave make sure you take top care of your scalp, it needs major tlc.
2. Be patient, growing your hair out is a process all by itself.
3. If you get fed up with transitioning … just cut it and you will look great!

The best thing about being natural is that I am able to embrace my true GOD given beauty. This is the way HE intended for me to look. I embrace it head on. I love the easy styling I achieve with just a little effort.

If you want to go natural, don’t worry about what other people will say. Making yourself happy is the most important thing. My family didn’t like the idea at all when I first went natural, now all they say is my hair looks great. If you love it then it will show all over you. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous!!

If you are still looking for a good deep conditioner, you should try the one manufactured by Ultra Black Hair, which was created by a black woman named Cathy Howse. She created it specifically for the needs of black hair. It's what I use to deep condition my hair, and I do believe it has made a big difference! You should check out her website, ultrablackhair.com, to learn more about her and her products. Also, you can see pictures of her beyond bra-strap length hair!!

If you do use this conditioner, it does tend to make your hair kind've "hard" due to the strengthening protein it contains. You can just use an instant conditioner afterward to make it "soft" again. I hope this helps 🙂
