Veronica- Naturally Glam Hair Idol

Meet Veronica… a natural that reminds us to be proud of what God gave us!

Veronica- Naturally Glam Hair Idol
CN: How long have you been natural?

Last Relaxer: 3.7.2009
BC’d: 7.10.2009

CN: What is your current regimen?
I don’t really have a set regimen yet. I co-wash at least once a week using Giovanni. I detangle with my fingers while in the shower before rinsing the conditioner out. I shampoo when I feel my hair needs the extra attention. I use coconut oil, aloe vera gel, and shea butter when needed.

CN: How do you maintain length? Moisture?
I’ve only trimmed my ends once since I BC’d; I’m not sure if I should do it more often or not. However, I don’t use heat often, I only use combs for parting, and I use my little brother’s wave brush for smoothing lol. I use my spray bottle when my hair feels dry. It is a mixture of water, a little jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, and Infusium 23 (the moisture/frizz kind). I’ll probably wear two-strand twists more since my hair is a little longer now.

CN: How do you protect your curls at night?

I tie a satin scarf around my edges and put a bonnet on top of that.

CN: What would you tell a new natural, or transitioning diva?

Everyone’s texture is not the same. Just because your curls/coils/whatever you choose to call them don’t look like someone else’s, doesn’t mean that your hair is any less beautiful. Embrace
your napps and be PROUD of what God gave you :)! Also, what works for some, doesn’t work for everyone.

CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?
FREEDOM. The freedom to swim as much as you want, walk in the rain, and work-out everyday…along with everything else. It feels great not to have to limit yourself because you “don’t want to mess your hair up.” BTW I recently learned how to swim towards the
beginning of this year :D.

CN: Anything else you want to add?

Peace, Love, and NAPPINESS!!!

Hi Ladies! I'm soooo sorry that I haven't responded!! I just realized that comments were being posted here, wasn't trying to be rude! Please don't shoot me! Lol, Thanks for all of the lovely comments. I consider my texture 4a. I think I have some 3c curls in the crown of my hair. I have a FOTKI acct-MsuAlum09. I check it more regularly, and I respond to comments :).
I dyed my hair with the box color by Soft Sheen Carson. I believe the name was "Sun-Kissed Brown."
    Sorry again!

your curl pattern is off the charts! Love it!

  • FrouLaLa says:

She has a very distinct, clearly spiral curl pattern. I would say between a 3c/4a. Very pretty! Love how your curls just POP!

Check out prettydimples01 and coilskinkscurl I would say that you're more their hair type which is 4a/4b category and naptural85 which is 3c/4a category. But all of those women have good hairstyles and advice.

  • Anonymous says:

I think she's a 3C but it would be nice to hear her respond to some of the questions. Veronica, are you there? We love your hair 🙂

  • modest-goddess says:

    I'd guess she is a 3b/c.

    Hair Types

Our friends at OurHair.net have devised a simple system to define hair types and to encourage healthy hair as well as a healthy mindset. Their system is called LOIS, which takes away the need for a strict hierarchical hair system that separates good hair from bad hair.

Before you begin, please keep in mind that a healthy, undamaged, virgin hair strand, meaning one that is not processed, relaxed or colored, is needed. Examine Your Hair Strand: Select a single strand of the most common type of hair on your head. Aim for 70%, so if you have different textures, use the most common texture on your head. The hair should be freshly washed without products applied to it and rinsed in cold water. Or, gently rinse a single hair with a little dish detergent and rinse in cold water. Allow the hair to dry on a bit of paper towel so that you can look at the pattern without touching it.

    Find Your Pattern:

L – If the hair has all bends, right angles and folds with little to no curve then you are daughter L.

O – If the strand is rolled up into the shape of one or several zeros like a spiral, then you are daughter O.

I – If the hair lies mostly flat with no distinctive curve or bend you are daughter I.

S – If the strand looks like a wavy line with hills and valleys then you are daughter S.

You may have a combination of the LOIS letters, possibly with one dominant. If you cannot see one letter over the others, then combine the letters. Example: LO or IL or OS..

    Find Your Strand size:
A strand of frayed thread is about the thickness of a medium sized strand of human hair. If your strand is larger than this, then your hair is thick. If your strand is smaller than this, hair is thin, or fine..

    Find Your Texture:
Shine is a sharp reflection of light while Sheen is a dull reflection of light.

Thready – Hair as a low sheen, with high shine if the hair is held taut (as in a braid), with low frizz. Wets easily but water dries out quickly.

Wiry – Hair has a sparkly sheen, with low shine and low frizz. Water beads up or bounces off the hair strands. Hair never seems to get fully wet.

Cottony – Hair has a low sheen, a high shine if the hair is held taunt and has high frizz. Absorbs water quickly but does not get thoroughly wet very fast.

Spongy – Hair has a high sheen with low shine with a compacted looking frizz. Absorbs water before it gets thoroughly wet.

Silky – Hair has low sheen, a very high shine, with a lot or low frizz. Easily wets in water.

    Hi Veronica,

Your hair is beautiful. I want to start swimming but do you have to shampoo your hair after every swim? What is your recommendation for cleansing the hair after you swim?

    Thanks!

  • Anonymous says:

    She is TOO CUTE! 🙂

I love your hair Veronica. It looks like mine. Would you consider yourself a 3C? I love it. I'm a bit confused on the dates of your last relaxer and BC. Was it July and October or otherwise? Since you put the periods I figured that's what it is. Please clarify. Do you Henna? The last picture looks like you have some type of color. Loving your hair. It's gorgeous! Your beautiful too.
