CN: When you first chopped, what were your thoughts and feelings?
I BC’d on 02/09/10 and I felt great! Liberated and free. I was so excited and happy. Then when I got home and tried to style my hair I had a moment of ‘what did I just do’? But that only lasted about 3 minutes.

CN: How do you feel now?
I love my hair. I cannot remember being natural as a kid, I know I got my first relaxer some where around 10, so I wasn’t sure what my natural texture would be like. I was surprised to see all those curls!

CN: How did you cope with the responses from you family and friends?
The only opinion that mattered to me was my husband’s (and even his really didn’t, LOL). He accepted my new look because he knew that’s what I wanted, when I am happy he’s happy. As far as other friends and family, they have been very supportive too. I haven’t had any negative comments just compliments.

CN: What are you plans for you hair?
I must say that having a TWA is very convenient in terms of the time that it takes to manage it, so I’ve gotten pretty spoiled with that. But I do intend to grow it out as long as I can get it to grow.

CN: Do you find it necessary to ‘doll up’ your look to feel more feminine?
Cutting my hair gave me reason to go shopping!!!! I started adding to my earring collection. I haven’t purchased any hair accessories yet because I like my TWA just as it is. With the makeup and earrings I believe that’s all I need for now.

CN: How do you keep it moisturized?
I was well prepared for TWA dryness which I have to say I didn’t notice too much. For the first two months I would say I co-washed almost 1-2 days and I would baggie at night about 3 nights a week. Since my hair has gotten longer I only co-wash every 3-4 days now. I use either Giovanni Direct Leave-In or ShidaNaturals Moisturizing Cream/Spray and seal with my oil mix of evoo/castor oil/coconut oil.

CN: What products and techniques do you use to style? How often do yo style?
I started out using Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel to define my curls but have recently started using Miracurl Curling Gelly. Using the Miracurl allowed me to have fab 4 day hair. Curls popping every where lol.

CN: How do you preserve your curls as night?
I always always always use a satin bonnet.
