Finally caught up with her! Sorry for the delay 🙂
The gorgeous and talented R&B singer Leela James is On the Couch! She dished on her new album, My Soul, released on May 25, 2010, and of course on that HUGE and ridiculously fly mane of hers. Tune in Monday morn for the exclusive– you’ll also be able to check it out on NaturallyCurly.com!!!
Later Gators,

Hi Nikki, I LOVE Leela James music as well as her hair. It's sooo big and fierce. Could you please ask her what products she uses (to moisturize, style, etc) and how does she maintain her hair while touring, doing shows. Also has she always been natural and if not what made her decide to go natural? Thank you much.
Hi Nikki. Could you please ask her, what type of hair does she has and how often does she trim her hair? Her hair is beautiful. Thanks Nikki.
I'd like to know if she adds any pieces at all to her hair?
I'd like to know what is missing in today's soul music that she plans to provide?
Hi Nikki, Could you ask her does she ever wear her hair straighten or rod sets?
Yay!! I'd like to know:
What's her hair care regimen?
How long she's been natural?
What's her styling process for her big mane?
What's her hair type?
The same question Anonymous#2 asked.
What inspires her to stay true to her genre of music?
Oh yay!
-Is that ALL of her hair?
-When did she go natural or has she been all her life?
-Has she had much negativity towards her hair?
-Her hair regimen?
I <3 her ask all those hair questions. And:
Who inspired or inspires her musical style?
Dream collabration with any artist dead or alive?
Beautiful hair!
Can you ask her how long she has been natural? How long does it take to detangle her hair/what is her regimen? What are the best aspects of being natural from her experience?
Thanks!
Hey Nikki,
Definitely want to know how long does it take her to detangle all that hair?! And has she learned a lot about herself and life in general through her natural hair journey? Thanks a bunch!
I don't believe that is her natural hair.
I've been DYING to find out her hair regime. PLEASE ask how she gets the killer fro she wears on stage. Her routine from wash to wear.
And everyone wants to know if she wears a hair pieces. If she does….where the heck she buys them from?!?!?!?!?!?
WOW!!!!
I believe its her hair. Just like I know thats all Chaka Khan's hair. She's been on the scene long enough to show its hers…and where would you get a weave like that?
Is it a blow out or a killer fro? What is her regimen, hair color and styling process for her beautiful bouncy mane of hair.
I'm honestly not convinced thats all her hair be it natural or not, can we get a confirmation please.
Thanks.
Yea right – all that hair is not Chaka Khan's hair.
I love Leela's voice and her hair. I am looking forward to the interview.
o.m.g. I have missed miss lela james. I have her first album and sistah was fierce then. I loved her remake of "don't speak" I am so glad she's back. yes, ask how long it took her to get her hair so long and fierce and how long it takes to dry?
thanks.
That is not Chaka Kahn's hair (but then again she bought it so I guess it really is). Just check out the small pic of her on the cover of the "Rags to Rufus" album, she was sporting a teeny weeny afro. And that probably isn't Leela's hair either. But with that said, who cares? Black women, even when we applaud "natural" hair we are still worshipping the length, get over it.
ummmmm i know her younger sister.. thats definitely not all her hair!
O.M.G. Thank you CN! I love Leela, I've got all her records and have been meaning to pick up the new one. Her hair is gorgeous, and whether it's all her's or not, its lovely. I can't wait!
Looking forward to it! I didn't know who she was, but I've seen her hair on lots of blogs. She's really pretty.
Salutations,
Cant' wait until Monday. Love Leela James' music and hair. Plus the Esperanza interview was awesome. Thanks Curly Nikki for having this blog and sharing your blessing with others. Live, Love, Peace.

Nikki… I went natural 3 years ago now, I didn't even know I had naturally curly hair let alone a nice grade! All I have to do is add water for beautiful locks of curls or just let it do what it does! I believe embracing my natural locks has given me discipline, & instructed me to embrace my INNER beauty. I'm a playwrite, oddly enough I believe my creativity and inspiration is NOW greater than ever before! I attribute that to GOD… the bible tells us that a woman's hair is her GLORY! How powerful that is! My question is …. my hair fell completely out 3 years ago and has grown back … there is one thin spot that has hair and is growing in however needs to catch up.. do you have any suggestion as to what i can use to nurture that area of my scalp? And what kind of products do I use to take care of my hair and style it? Keep doing what you do NIKKI… God is with you! Thanks Alanna at Marlannas Hair Studios in Desoto, Tx for telling me about this site!
