What Did You Do…

for your hair this weekend?

CN writes:

Baby is one week old today (yay!). With my new responsibilities as a 24 hour buffet and diaper changing machine, I haven’t had much time for myself. Luckily, my hair still looks pretty decent. It’s still styled from the night I went into labor last week. I’ve kept it in a high loose pony all these days and even (gasp) slept with it out at night without a scarf or satin pillow case. To style I used Curl Junkie’s Repair DT and shea butter.

Hopefully sometime this week I’ll find time to deep condition, detangle and re-set… probably in another twist-out to be worn up and out of the way.

I did my 1st pre-poo this weekend. I parted my scalp to apply Tea Tree Oil, then I mixed The Body Shop Manoi Miracle oil & Elasta QP Intense Fortifying Conditioner & applied it to my dry hair. I let it sit for about 30 minutes, then I co-washed with Proclaim Olive Glossing Conditioner. After blow drying I applied Shea Butter & flat-ironed… TRE MAGNIFIQUE! My hair was lustrous & shiny & A LOT LESS FRIZZY!!! I'm a believer in pre-poo

I've been rocking these modified chunky twists that I've had in my hair since, I don't even remember :-O LOL! I've been trying to keep my hands out of my hair (I have that disease or syndrome called, "Can't Keep My Hands Out Of My Hair"). On Sunday, I parted my hair down the middle, re-twisted the sides, twisted them together, and tucked the ends. The style has a Victorian- or vintage-feel to me and it reminds me of when my Mommy would put two braids in my hair. Unfortunately, I haven't mastered that technique, but this style is close enough for me. I need to do a video with dirty hair and all…

I did 4 cornrows on one side and did a braidout on the rest. I did that on friday and the braid out is still looking fresh. I used curls gel-loucies(sorry for spelling lol) i refreshed with quenched curls and a light misting of water.

Hey Nikki . . . This weekend I tried on of the protective styles that I you posted a link to http://www.curlynikki.com/2010/07/chic-protective-style-tutorial-natural.html It's a flat twist updo (sort of mohawkish) . . it worked out really well. I received a ton of compliments.
So this is what I did . . I dc'd with Aubrey Oraganics Honey suckle conditioner, washed and conditioned with Giovanni TTT and used Kimmay's leave in . . . twisted and banded my hair to stretch it while it dried and styled with Jane Carter's Nourish and shine. it's my first attempt at this type of protective style so I'm hoping it last for a few days (my goal is Wednesday) . . .

Hey Nikki! This weekend was my brother's birthday and my first time going out to a club while in the transition stage. I really didn't want my hair to sweat out and start looking crazy so I decided to do a modified mo-hawk with like 5 cornrows up the sides and a bantu knot out. My hair was ROCKING! I got so many compliments and someone even asked what I use on my hair! It made me feel so good and it felt like I got more attention from both Men and Women this weekend like I was the "Cute Curly Hair Nice Girl with a SMILE"!!!!!

Hi Nikki. It's good to here that your hair is holding up while tending to your little one. I did a conditioner rinsed puff on Saturday morning. On Saturday night I sprayed my hair with water and conditioner mix and then did a cornrow twistout. I unraveled this morning and ran around so much today that I forgot to take pictures. Check out my blog to see my wash and go puff from this weekend at www.barbaranaturallyspeaking.blogspot.com

Awww Nikki! My little bundle of joy was a non sleeper, he didn't sleep through the night until he was over a year old! He still wakes up frequently to come get into my bed- he's seven now and the size of a small man. I'm sure your little lady won't do a number on you like my little mister did!

I co washed and DC'd via hair steamer. I'm tired of sponge rollers so I'm off to Sally's in the a.m. in search of curl formers.

So glad to hear you and baby Gia are doing well and falling into a routine.

This weekend I did a Amla/Brahmi/Fenugreek treatment and followed up with an overnight DC with my mix of GVP COnditioning Balm, Lustrasilk Shea Butter/Mango cholesterol, and honey. Haven't quite settled on a style so I've just had my hair banded down the sides like double french braids.

I gave my hair a break! Well, Friday & Saturday anyway. No products, no styling just a little spray of water and oils..since it's a long weekend maybe I'll do something nice for it tomorrow!

I did a twist and curl with spiral rollers and it came out super cute. I styled my hair in a faux hawk. I even heard some uber chick gay men commenting on it, I think it's a hit! I mainly style with my rosewater + aloe vera juice spritz and shea butter. Congrats on having a healthy baby girl and I hope you continue to enjoy motherhood bliss.

After reading the post here about thinning edges, I made a special effort this weekend to give my edges a break. My hair is up in a loose high bun and I gently pushed my edges up with Bee Mine's Bee Hold.

In this saturday, i gave me a Alma Hair Oil treatment, after that i use Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner, for two hours, while it was in i combed my hair with my wide teeth comb, and then i washed my hair with Kinky-Curly Come Clean.
At last i styles my hair with a medium sized french braid in the one side, and a bun.
Styles with aloe vera juice gel mixed with coconut oil, water and Mixed Chicks Leave In Conditioner.
I'm glad that everthing goes great with Gia. 🙂

I cowashed and finally did a much needed and overdue detangling session. I did a braid out for my style. Glad you're doing well and that your style is hanging in there. Happy 1 week b-day to Baby G! 🙂 ~KF519

My hair has been in a braid out since Wednesday. Its been very frizzy from laying without my satin pillowcase. Today I put it in a high bun to hopefully get two more days out of this style.

Congrats to mommy and baby. I am very happy you two are healthy and happy! You make me anxious to start trying for my own. By the way I love the new pic on the page header.
