Seriously, Garnier’s Curl Sculpting Cream Gel is really proving to be quite reliable! I get soft, defined sets that are moisturized, shiny and last and last. I also like that it plays well with almost every leave-in I’ve paired it with. In this pic, I used Shea Moisture’s new Volumizing Conditioner underneath. I love the slip, fragrance and ingredients of this conditioner… check it out if you haven’t! I’m not sure if it pumped up the volume but it definitely packs a moisture punch.
I noticed that when using a gel, I prefer the slightly frizzy and fuller look of 2nd through 4th day hair. Pineappling at night and fluffing in the morning with a little frizz serum has been my go-to routine since Baby G arrived.
what?! I used that stuff and haaaaaaaaaaated it!! AND I'd used gf triple nutrition condish underneath it. Hmm maybe I need to try it with something else.
Thanks ladies!
INS, I wish! They should be. My sponsors are displayed prominently on the site!
Is garnier one of your sponsors?
Hey Nikki you look great and Miss Thing is super cute! I couldn't find the ingredient list for the Garnier product but I thought it was full of all kinds of cones, etc. Do you use a clarifying shampoo to cleanse?
I didn't even read the text lol!!!! I just want to say that you look GORGEOUS girl! You have such a cute baby face and you are so FIT! You are a DOLL!!!! Werk it momma!
OMG, Nikki, you look fabulous!! You already got your body in shape! Congrats!! Your hair is pretty, too bad I can't find this Garnier gel here, in Brazil.
Hey Nik, my childhood friend had the EXACT same issue when she had her son. Her stomach was flat but it was black lol. I think it took a few months for her coloring to get back to normal. Anyhoo, I want to say I purchased this gel if it's the one in a squeeze tube. I don't think I used it, probably amongst the product abyss that is my bathroom lol.
Your after-baby body reminds me of my cousin's, and she's had 5 kids!!!! Snaps back every time. Your hair is bouncylicious! I tried the Garnier sculpting cream over leave-in AND coconut oil, maybe the oil was my mistake b/c when I took out my braids my hair was so heavy I had to pin it up. I'm gonna try your method tonight after dusting my ends. Thanks CN!
Wow you look great! I snapped back after I had my first two kids but boyyyy, #3 and #4 did me in lol.
Your hair looks great!
To the person who asked about Nikki's pineapple routine, here 'tis: http://www.curlynikki.com/2010/06/night-time-routine.html
I had to get on the sculpting cream gel and YOU AIN'T NEVA LIED!! Ok that's what I was missing!! It really helped my still permed portions of my braidouts stay nice & wavy and the ends curled. All I'd do was pineapple at night and shake down. I used it today with a wash n'go ponytail. It looks good so far but I think I coulda used a tish more. We'll see how it looks in the AM. But I'm going to spray it with my aloe juice, distilled water & glycerin mix and maybe put a bit more leave-in & cream sculpt. . . LOVING IT!!
I love your hair!!!! =)
I hope I look as you when I have a baby lol. Loving the hair too!
LOVE your hair Nikki! I actually bought some of that gel weeks ago but have yet to use it. My hair is much shorter than yours so I'm wondering how my twist out will turn out when I use it. And you look great by the way!
Gorgeous hair as always. I can't believe you just had a baby Nikki, you look stupendous 🙂
ok (insert sigh). clearly i've done something wrong with this product. i cowashed with herbal essences moisturizing conditioner, applied knot today leave in, then put the garnier cream gel on top of that and twisted my hair. the next morning when i untwisted my hair it was hard and dry so much so that i had to rewash it the next day. please help me i want to love this!
Just wow!
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!!!! Thanks for this wonderful site CN and all of the inspiration. You, your baby, the hair, the post baby bod are all gorgeous! You should pat yourself on the back!
Looking great grl. I saw your post about it after your field trip to walgreens :- ) I recently bought it and tried it out. It works for me too ?
CN!! Baby Gia is too cute! What frizz serum do you use? I need my frizzies under control!! Thanks for this site it is awesome!!!!
Hi Nikki,
Iam new to your site but I am loving it all ready. Its good hear so many women encouraging each other. Your hair is beautiful! I did my BC Sunday what a Rush…anyway I will put that product on my list to try. This is new for me but I am embrasing it with open arms.
u look great. hair looks great. I tried some garnier curl creme and I love it. Target had it on sale for 2.50. CHEAP!!! I love the consistency, its not sticky and it gives good hold and shine. I think it will be one of my staples for my twists and bantu knots.
WOW! You look great! No one would know that you JUST had a baby unless you told them. So you keep talking about this Garnier Cream Gel. My hair is 4a/b/c and EXTREMELY thick. When it dries it looks like I have a bale of black cotton on my head. Will this stuff work on my hair or do I need to stick to cream based products. I JUST started doing my own hair last week..It doesnt seem like it will be heavy enough looking at the consistency in my hands.
Has anyone tried Garnier's Sleek Fortifying leave-in conditioner? I saw it at CVS on sale for 2.99 and wondered if it was a good buy lol!
I love the GF curl sculpting gel. I haven't done a set with it yet though. I use it for my chunky twists at night. I'm not going to do a set until I get this mop cut/shaped up.
The sculpting gel is on clearance/sale at Target for 2.54! And u get a sample of Sleek n Shine anti-frizz milk with it. I am going to get some more tomorrow since I opted for the Stiff Gel.
Shamigreen I have that same patch at my crown. I just have to baby it more. Since switching to Hair One cleansing conditioner from Sally's, I notice that it's more moisturized than it was before & the curls there pop a bit more. I also add a little Hello Hydration Totally Twisted back into my hair after my leave-ins & that helps as well. The curls at the crown are uniform w/my other curls—at least for a day or so lol
You look beautiful and I will for sure try the gel because ive been on the hunt for something to give me a nice hold. thanks for the info!
Hey Nikki! I always read your reviews with interest. I have been experimenting with the Garnier creme gel since you mentioned it. However, it did not feel good on my hair when used on top of my conditioner. I may take the oil out of it. My biggest issue has been maintaining it without it blowing up after my work outs. I use almost everything SheaMoisture so I might give that conditioner a try since I'm running out of the others. Thanks for sharing!
um, wow. You look gorgeous Nikki!
For the first time, I can't even pay attention to your hair b/c I'm in awe of the post pregnancy body! You go Nikki!!! (hair is beautiful, too, as always lol)
work it new mama! you bounced back amazingly, truly an inspiration to all of us. Keep doing whatever it is you're doing, although I bet it's au naturale. It's in the genes!
Nikki, you and your hair look GREAT!! Love it.
Nikki you do look fabulous. I too love the shape of your hair and am curious about your process of cutting it in layers yourself. You are the second woman I've seen with the cut I want that has done it herself. How do you do that? Please, next time you do it do a little video clip. I'd like to try to cut mine in layers but haven't worked up the courage yet.
Looking good, Nikki! 🙂
Nikki! You look great…praying I bounce back like you after my delivery. And hair is fab as always!
Your hair always looks beautiful . . .up, down, day 1 or day 4, you obviously have a great relationship with your hair. OMG!!! Your daughter is just a slice of heaven – love the babies!
Ok . . . PLEASE tell me what you do with your hair when it's up in a pineapple, I don't think I've seen that on YT or your site . . . hmmm?
You look great, Nikki, but people also need to keep in mind that you're naturally slender and you appear to be small boned. Genetics, along with breast feeding, will play a huge role in how quickly the baby weight comes off.
Monsia
You look as fabulous as your hair and of course your hair is always fabulous. Totally Twisted gel nor Eco gel works for me. I have not found anything that will define my curls (4a/b). So I will definitely pick this up and give this a try today. Looking good – thanks.
Nikki you look stunning! Your hair, your body, pregnancy treated you well. Work it girl!
Your hair looks so pretty here! I'm tempted to cut mine all off and start over. My curl pattern has changed so much over the past two years. It doesn't stick out/ stand up anymore, and i miss that. I think the Henna and occasional heat may be the cause. So we'll see, I'm about 3-4 inches from wl, so i'm gonna stick it out until then. But come next summer I'm starting fresh. I want me big hair back! In other news, whats up with the weekly post about baby G. She is so freaking cute. Makes me wanna get started 🙂
thanks ladies!
natakue! i always smile when i see your name. you need to send me some updated pics of your hair! It's been too long… I still visit your old album believe it or not, lol. I've actually received a few email requests about my weight loss and I plan to do a post next week I think.
curlybean, this is day 2
Beautiful!! I must try. What day hair is that?
Very nice! I have to try this stuff! By the way, you do look great. 🙂 ~KF519
Your hair looks great, as usual. I have to pull out my Garnier products again now that the humid summer days are gone.
You look fabulous! I can't believe you just had a baby! Would you mind sharing how you're losing/lost the weight so quick?
your crown may not be damaged at all… my crown hair has no curl to it either. It's frizzy, dry and rough to the touch. I pay extra special attention to it during DTs (not that it makes a difference) and twist it with a little extra gel or conditioner when styling. I also don't fluff it as much as I do the rest of my hair, as it turns to frizz immediately. My hair in the front and on the sides is loose and wavy, I've got tight pin springs at my nape and frizzier, less defined hair in the back and on top. If left to airdry without any product, I'd have a bob… long and defined in the front and on the sides, and a frizzy curly fro in the back, lol.
VERY CUTE!!! I Love DEFINED waves and curls!!! I haven't found a product that will hold my waves when I do Braidouts for a full day. My hair will be great but then only in the front my hair will go straight and frizzy with a curl at the ends :b I hate it!!! I'll have to rewet my hair and rebraid to have the definition back. I'm 16 MONTHS into my transition and would think I should've found something…..LOL!!!
This is great, I've been looking for a product to try that may give my twist/braid outs some hold and definition. My hair just ends up in a shrunken fro by day two and in the summer I can barely make it to the train station before I look like a poor man's Angela Davis, lol.
Loving the curls Nik! Kisses & hugs to Gia!
Quick question…
I've been transitioning for about 11 months now. I blow dry & straighten my hair about every 2 weeks. Then the next 2 weeks I do a roller set, to keep me from getting bored. When I started adding wash & gos to the repertoire I noticed my hair is different textures in different places. Apparently that's normal LOL… But there's a patch of unruly hair in the crown of my head that's dry & frizzy. It won't grow & won't curl. The rest of my hair repsond well to Eco Styler & leave in conditioner. I'm confused as to how the rest of my hair can be so shiny & thick. What can I do to encourage my "bad patch" to grow? … how do you spot repair hair damage?!?
@anon, yep, I hacked my hair into layers in the beginning of the pregnancy, lol. I'm sure it would look atrocious straightened!
Thanks Lori! Please try it and let me know what you think!
You'd think I have no signs… no stretch marks but my belly is as black as my shirt. The doc said it may fade but it'll take some time. My section scar is barely visible… I could be back in a bikini pool side if it wasn't for the hyperpigmentation.
I love your hair!! I also like the shape that your hair has to it. Do you have your hair cut in layers?
Loves it!!! I had Garnier's Curl Sculpting Cream Gel in my hand 2 weeks ago, but put it back on the shelf. I will have to actually try it and see how it works on my WNG.
You look so awesome post-baby. No sign at all of a previous pregnancy. Wow.
