Hola Chicas,
I’m so excited! I’ve heard great things about this line and I’m finally going to dedicate a day to try it! I received the Daily Leave-in Conditioner from NaturallyCurly a while back and just this weekend, Darcy sent me the popular Pumpkin Seed Moisturizing Curl Conditioner, Curl Moisturizing Cleanser and the Pure Kalahari Melon Seed Hair and Body Nectar. I’m particularly happy that both the conditioner and leave-in contain Behentrimonium Methosulfate, neither contain cones, and that the leave-in is protein free!!! Tomorrow’s the day, so stay tuned… I’ll probably do a review on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Have you tried the line? What did you think?
Later Gators,
Nik
Yes I have tried their pumpkin seed curl moisturiIng conditioner, curl styling creme, and curling gel, they are all moisturizing products which works very well for my 4b4c hair. I love their products and will be ordering more.
Has anyone compared this with Qhemet? Would you say they're on the same level?
I have been using Darcys for about a year. For reference, my hair is mainly 4b with some 4a in the front and back. It is very fine, cottony, poofy, but not especially thick. I LOVE the Madagascar Vanilla Styling Cream. I use it to style after a blow outs/stretched styles. It makes my hair soft and shiny. I used to use the Coiling Jelly, it's really good but dries a bit crunchy and flaky. Its best used layered with another creamy product. The leave in is another favorite – it has great SLIP! I haven't tried her DC.
I have tried many of the DB products. They include the transitioning cream, daily leave in conditioner, peach kernel hair milk, Madagascar vanilla styling creme and deep conditioning mask. I love everything with the exception of the transitioning cream and styling crème. My hair is “S-shaped” and “O-shaped” with medium texture and normal to high porosity. The DC mask is what I compare all other DCs too. Only a couple of products have compared. My hair is literally silky smooth after DCing. I <3 the deep conditioning mask.
I LOVE THIS COMPANY! I'm super late to the game on this post but I can't sing enough praises! I use the Avocado and Honey Twisting cream. It gives a great hold with lots of moisture and sheen for days. I also use the daily leave-in (don't remember which scent) and I love that to just freshen up an old twist out. The leave-in has no hold but I've found it gives great moisture for my 4a-b hair.
When I first ordered from them there was an issue with the shipping of my product and I email the company. Lysandra, the owner, responded immediately and expeditiously got my order to me AND offered me 3 more products (of my choosing) for free. Not only does she make awesome products but she offers outstanding customer service. LOL I sound like a commercial but I really do love that company!
I love the madagascar vanilla styling cream.. LOVE it. I met Lysandra and her lovely family this past spring at the Atlanta World Hair show. She and her husband are so down to earth and her daughter Darcy is so cute.
Deep conditioner is unbelievable. I love it. So worth the money. I also really like the Organic Palm Fruit and Cherry Kernnel Butter. I'm looking forward to getting the leave-in real soon.
HER PRODUCTS ARE THE BEST! THERE IS NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT!!!!!!
The deep treatment mask is WONDERFUL….very moisturizing for my 3c/4a hair and my daughter's 4b.
Tried the Madagascar Vanilla Styling Cream on my daughter's hair. It provided decent hold and sheen, but wasn't moisturizing. Left hair a tab bit dry and stiff the days following each use.
Can't wait to try the Pumpkin Seed Conditioner! I've read very nice reviews on Naturallycurly.com.
Dana
Haven't tried it but looking forward to the review. 🙂 ~KF519
I loved Darcy Botanicals. I havent restocked in a few months, I'm saving money 🙂
I tried the Natural Coils Curly Jelly it worked wonders on my daughters hair. She is a 4C with really soft thick hair. Her curls need lots of manipulation. I tried it on my hair which is is more of 4a and it stretched my curls but made it really crunchy after drying. I think its due to the rice and oats in the ingredients. My hair didn't respond to it well.
I tried the Coconute and Aloe Moisture Pudding and that worked great on my hair. The only problem is that its really runny and the jar is super small. I have lots of hair and pratically used the entire jar in a week!
All in all I love how light their products are and will treat myself to more of their products in the spring since I'm about to be braided up for the winter.
I hear ya, Blakbutterfli. My hair is fine and soft as well. My issues are needing things that provide moisture and hold for twistouts/braidouts without weighing the hair down too much or making it crunchy.
I recently bought the Avocado & Wild Plum twisting cream w/out glycerin and found it to not have enough moisture at all! Her line is extensive and I wasn't really sure what to buy and was looking for something cheaper than the $25 Jane Carter twist and Loc I currently use. It's funny I came to the site today looking for some info on these products!
I JUST received the Coiling Jelly Curls stuff (lol) and the Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme. I have a weave in right now, but as soon as I take it down, I plan on trying both products.
I think JetBlack had a GREAT idea with the different hair textures trying out products. I have extremely soft 4a hair that is fine and thin and many times, product reviews on most sites don't really help me, as I don't have hair that tangles or knots easily, it's not thick, etc… most of the things naturals complain about.
i absolutely love these products. I have tried the deep conditioner, madagascar vanilla styling creme, pumpkin seed conditioner(my niece and my daughter love this, smells yummy) and so many more i cant name therm all lol. I really dont think i have been dissatisfied with anything i have gotten from her. Her prices are great and she sends awesome samples in every order. i have 4b hair and my daughter has 3? hair.
ITA with Lori, I have the same results with the Daily Leave-In! I also have it in Sweet Cream. I've found that I have to use the Peach Kernel Hydrating Milk with the Daily Leave-In or another compatible leave-in condish from another line to get decent results, namely from twistouts and braidouts. The avocado & wild plum twisting creme is the best!
I LOVE this line Darcy's avocado and honey twisting cream and the glycerin free avocado and wild plum give me great results on my twist outs. LOVE the vanilla daily leave in conditioner. Did not care for the coiling jelly curls were defined but it left white flakes on my hair. I think I used to much. I may give it another try. LOVE the Madagascar and vanilla styling cream as a sealant. The Coconut & cupuacu butter natural hair pomade smells great and add shine to my hair. Coconut and Lemon grass transitioning creme is great also. The peach kernel hair and body oil love love and it smells great. LOVE this line.
looooove darcy's! cant get enuffmy NEXT order is gonna be for the honey n avocado twisting creme and UPGRADE the coconut lemongrass transitioning creme. i received a sample w/my last order and i LOOOOVE it!! i apply it wet and dry and my hair is always silky soft. im not into anymore hair milks cuz CD's does me just fine and i can use the coconut creme daily for a leave-in as well.
nonetheless, i HIGHLY recommend the DC mask if nothing else.
LOVE the Peach Kernel Hair Milk for me (4a) and my 3 year old daughter (3?). Awesome for super soft twistout and general moisturizing. perfect for little girls, light and smells lovely.
i tried their daily leave in conditioner, the one with no scent and i didn't like it, the consistency wasn't thick enough, it didn't really do my hair any good, i used it as a detangler because it had a good slip, it wasn't as good as people said it would be.
Nikki, I would say that the Daily Leave-in does NOT have any hold, at least not for me and I just do WNGs. I used her Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme on top of the LI 90% of the time and that worked for me. Some days I used a very little bit of EcoStyler OO gel and that worked nicely.
I've also mixed it with the Curls products sold by Target (Creme Brulee, mostly) and it did well.
I haven't tried any of the specific products you have but I routinely use the Avocado and Honey twisting creme for my twists…it gives me shine and the most defined twist-outs. it is definitely giving my beloved hairveda whipped jelly a run for the money particularly b/c I can get Darcy's through curlmart. I have recently replenished on this twisting creme and decided to try another product Organic Coconut Butter Styling Pomade…haven't used it yet but anticipating great results.
I've been on the fence on this brand…can't wait for you review. Will it push me over? We will see! LOL

I've used the Daily Leave In (Vanilla Delight).. it is very light, but pretty moisturizing! It has absolutely no hold, btw, so you'll need some sort of styler. I've heard that the transitioning creme is great for naturals too, I may try it one day, but I'm trying to keep my purchases to a minimum these days!
I know there are many types of hair and several different mixes and in-betweens. but i think it would be great if women from certain categories (3a-4b) were identified to do reviews of one product at the same time so we could see how a product/product line could work on a range of heads.like if you see the product being reviewed you can click on which hair type perspective you would prefer hearing the review from.
I really trust your opinion and appreciate your fab site but i just feel like my hair is so different from yours (4b). I just tried the HEHH and it was just ehh for me. actually knots if i dont take care. I know u have more than enough on your hands with your precious newbaby. I'm just saying that maybe if naturally curly looking for new ideas that people may respond to…
I have tried the Peach Kernel Hydrating Milk and Curling gel. The gel works nicely, doesn't dry crunchy. The Peach Kernel Hydrating Milk I tried several times on my hair and it just feels horrible. When applying it, it does not feel moisturizing at all. I got the "glycerin-free" version because I don't like the way it feels on my hair. Anyhow, I have given up on this product. Since it can be used as a body lotion, I will use it up that way. It's fine on my body…just not on my hair. Maybe you'll have good results with the products you plan to buy.
I am dying to try something new…don't need, just want? So I am eagerly anticipating your review
thanks lori! does it have any hold? if not what styler do you use?
I've had the Daily Leave-In Conditioner (Sweet Cream scent) for many months and I love it. I know it says on the bottle "a little goes a long way", but it seems so light to me that I can be as heavy handed as I want and it has NEVER been product-y or gummy or sticky. Never.
Hope you love it too.
