I went as Prince – you know "Purple Rain" and all that- (he's back to being just Prince now so I don't have to write "the artist formerly known as") I was Prince last year too but this year as Prince instead of flat ironing and curling my hair I did a twist out and pinned it up into a mohawk. I've seen pictures of him with a faux-hawk sort of deal so it totally worked (again). Everyone totally loved my costume! I even had a co-worker tell me how much she loved my whole ensemble and another say how much she loved how I'm always changing up my hair!
I was Christie Love (Google it), but no one got it! I did a chunky twist-out fro and wore a police costume. To style my hair, I used an older twist-out misted w/conditioner & water and then then re-twisted with castor oil mix and shea butter for the ends. Everywhere I went, someone yelled, "I LOVE your hair!" I made sure to "do it, do it" when they played "Whip My Hair" at the club!
I'm lazy so I kept it simple and went as a greek goddess with a white dress, gold rope belt/shoes/accessories. for my hair I made a high cinnabun with a small pompadour style and I stapled some glitter gold leaves together and bobby pinned them into my hair. the cinnabun always works!
Pick out the 'fro (it's plaited as I type so I can get maximum height) & wear my favorite dashiki with some platforms. So I don't look like a regular Tuesday (b/c I wear that dashiki alot) I'm going to do a frosty green eye & wear a pick in my hair. I might do a puff though but it's not as big and dramatic as the 'fro.
Going to a fundraiser but it's not a costume party so Im just gonna glam it out with a cute dress and just finished applying the Kinky Curly system (the shampoo, conditioner and custard) and my hair is oh so fab right now…so Im gonna push it back and do wild big corkscrew curls.
I am going to be a Black Panther. I'm gonna pick my hair into a big fro and stick a pick (one of the one's with a black hand in a fist on the handle) in it π
This year I was Catwoman! I big chopped yesterday morning and didn't realize until later that Halle Berry big chopped in the movie too! I guess I really got into character this year π
Im "Waldo" from the Where's Waldo books!! Im going to wear my bangs in a twistout and keep twists in the rest of my hair underneath the sweater hat. I'll probably sew in a thin layer of satin underneath the hat so it wont cause friction on my hair!!!
I'm gonna be the she hulk! So I have my hair under a long curly sew in. The best part is I get to paint my whole body green (And wear a leotard lol)! People in austin go crazy for halloween (anything you can dress up for really) so I wanted to be real original! Most people don't even know there is a she hulk (I'm a nerd so sue me) so its gonna be awesome! And sexy π
im gonnna be jessica rabbit so i'll have on a red wig…. my hair is about an inch deep in its natural state and i havent figured out a way to keep it flat and safe under the wig yet. i'm hopeful though
Im not dressing up either, I am 19 and only dressed up once in my life when I was like 9. But this weekend I am finally putting a protective style back in my hair after wearing it out in twist outs and braid outs for 3 weeks. That was the longest I have ever worn my hair "out" and I have been natural for 8 years! Im trying sister twists, I got the inspiration from Nikki and 'A' from Beads Braids & Beyond. Im using my old favorite Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner as a leave in. I should be doing it right now but of course I'm on curlynikki.com instead. =]
Not doing much for Halloween but handing out candy. My "little ones" are all grown and not Trick or Treating anymore. But, my hair plans are to take down my braids on Saturday or Sunday, co-wash with HEHH and deep condition with Pantene R&N Hair Mask – then put my hair back in a protective style. Been transitioning for about 10 months. Got maybe another 10 – 12 months to go!
Last year I was Michael Jackson circa 1970. I was transitioning and wore my hair in a straw-set turned fro topped off with a newsboy hat. I wore a brown corduroy blazer under a flower power shirt, bell bottom pants and black shoes (took inspiration from the Got to be There album cover). Only a handful of people knew who I was. I was pissed lol.
This year I'm going as a dead sorcerer which requires me to wear a mask. I'm going to protect my now-ALL NATURAL hair with a satin bonnet with twists underneath. :o)

I'm going as Jason (yea, THAT Jason). If I don't feel like twisting my hair, I'll probably just seal and band to wear it as a fro.

I'm going to be a Chilean Minor (I'm the punniest, I know), so I'll be wearing pigtail puffs.
Helping my sister move on halloween so I will probably wear a protective style under a cap!
I'm not going anywhere so I'm not dressing up. But, where having a harvest party as a family, so Im rocking an afro.
This is a good question, I haven't thought about it. I'm not dressing up but my daughter is going as Spidergirl lol.
I'm gonna be Nicki Minaj haha, I have a wig, butt pads and everything! lol
I'm gonna be a fairy! Sitting under the dryer right now so I can rock a fresh braid out!

I guess I am some sort of witch since everything including my lipstick is black and I have some orange and black stripped tights.
Peace, Love and Chocolate
