Meet Tratay… a gorgeous natural enjoying her TWA!
CN: When you first chopped, what were your thoughts and feelings? How do you feel now?
When I first big chooped I got scared and got kinky twists 5 days later. I became afraid of what evryone else would say. I only kept them in for 4 weeks, and when I took them down, my hair grew to a more comfortable length and now (1 month 1/2 later) I’M IN LOVE!!! I have a serious problem of always touching my hair. =)

My mom thought it was super cute (she just bc’d) my dad really didn’t say much = / and my boyfriend was very supportive, he always says how I look nice with short hair and he likes the “new” me! I also recieved compliments from family and friends, which really helped me to embrace my curls!
CN: What are your plans for your hair?
I just plan to let my hair do what it wants. Now that I am at a comfortable TWA length, I am not rushing growth. I just want to keep beautiful healthy hair!
CN: Do you find it necessary to ‘doll up’ your look to feel more feminine?
Not really. With relaxed hair, I was a super girly girl (earrings, flowers, clips etc.). So I still rock the same style just new hair. = )
CN: How do you keep it moisturized?
At night, I spray my hair with conditioner water and oil mix. I also sleep in a satin bonnet.
CN: What products and techniques do you use to style? How often do you style?
Right now I’m rockin the wash n go. I co-wash (every other day) with Herbal Essence Totally Twisted or HE Hello Hydration, apply Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in, and seal with jojoba oil. I do a weekly DC with honey, unrefined shea butter, EVOO, and one of the conditoners. I am really looking forward to trying twists, and bantu knots!!!
CN: How do you get your waves or curls popping?
On co-wash days they are popping automatically from the routine listed above. Other days my spray bottle brings them back to life and I’m good to go!
@ Lyndsey I couldn't find you on facebook π but thanks for the compliment and congrats on going natural!!
@Qzan thank you!!
@Alix wow I'm flatterd thak you and good luck!
Fabulous! I BC-ed over a year ago and TWAed for about 8 months. Then I got tired of it and relaxed again. After months of relaxers I'm fed up with the limp, lifeless hair, maintenance time and salon dependency. I'm transitioning now and you've inspired me to BC again!
Too cute chica! Enjoy the journey:)
OMG! My name is Lyndsey. I was so shocked when i saw your picture on curlynikki. i'm from buffalo too and we`re friends on facebook… its very inspiring when I see someone I'm familiar with going natural. You already know everyone loves this style on you, its adorable! π

Wow! Your curls are very beautiful, they look so soft, well done.
your curl definition is amazing!
You and your curls are completely adorable!! It's good to see someone else that's on the grow with frequent cowashing and a good spray bottle mix.
So cute!
Awww aren't you just as cute as a button!!!
You have such a cute TWA and it fits you very well…

So cute, yes a twa is extremely becoming on you!
Definitely enjoy it because your hair is going to grow like a weed, and in only a year it'll be gone! I wish I would've been brave enough to bc, because it seems like it gives you a better appreciation of your hair, something that took me WAY too long to get.
Anyway, I'm digressing, Congrats on the BC and becoming a member of the FLYEST community around!!
Very Nice!!!!!
Oh my goodness Tratay you are just as cute as a button. Your hair reminds me of CurlyNikki little Gia pictured in the latest Show n Tell Fierce Ladies. The cut and style really suits your facial features, even with the relaxed hair it was gorgeous as well with lots of shine. You have done a great job so far, and keep up the good work. Welcome to the natral world, and thank you for sharing the story along with those gorgeous pictures.
What a cute TWA. You wear it well:-)
A TWA really becomes you. Take it from someone who is growing her hair out (currently at BSL) enjoy every length on the way.
Oh. Em. Gee. Could she be any cuter??!?!?! With that face she could pull off any look. Congrats on the BC!
