Kasalina Maliamu Nabakooza is an independent photographer living in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, covering events and doing street photography. She will be contributing photographs of the most fashionable women and men with natural hair in New York City for CurlyNikki.com! She reached out recently and I couldn’t be more ecstatic… I think this will be an excellent addition to Fierce Fridays! She shares, ‘I see so many brilliant people in the city that I’m inspired by – it is great to be able to share these photographs.’ You’ll be able to catch Kasalina’s post bi-weekly, every other Friday. Stay tuned 🙂
Thanks kasalina and much love to you
Your pics are great, u have this raw talent and I loved every picture. I don't know much about Brooklyn ( I ve only been to Harlem for few days) but I surely like the vibe of the city. the Keep up the good work. Hasta la vista
Die hard Brooklynite here and I can tell you for a fact that brooklyn is the natural hair mecca of NYC, lol! U can go completely unnoticed with a weave or perm here – the more natural and funkier the better! It made my transition that much better, being celebrated by just about every person I passed was awesome and affirming…
Love Brooklyn and these pics.
yay, I love this. One of my favorite blogs is the Le Coil blog on tumblr because they just have FIERCE natural hair street photos. I think this is a great addition to the Curly Nikki blog.
It's so nice of Nikki to share her blog with other content contributors!

Love the pics. I can feel the energy of NYC and the love of natural hair through your lens. Great job and wonderful addition to this site. DMCC~
Love this feature! Keep up the good work, Nikki and Kasalina.
These pics are wonderful, beautiful.
I miss NYC, UGHHH so over living in south florida. so ready to move back home. this is motivation.
love love love these pics
Wow all of these pictures of natural men and women are gorgeous. But I think on picture number 4 that I would definitely be scared to be behind him, just in case his hair came lose. Talk about being knocked the heck out by all of that hair, you wouldn't need a gun just whip that hair out and use it..lol..lol… I really like the different styles and colors of each natural person that is showed listed on here. It's so good to see all of the diversity in NYC, and that it's definitely starting to show all over in different states and on commericals. Thank you Kasalina for showing off these wonderful pictures to us CN people.
What a great idea!Welcome Kasalina! All of the pics are beautiful and I think the one with the male & snow flakes is marvelous!

I miss NYC.. Sometimes I just want to move back home but then I think about how much rent I was paying for that 1 bedroom apt and I snap back to reality. The south has been good to me LOL.. Love all these pics.

I visited Brooklyn for the first time in 1999 and was shocked to see that there were literally more natural (and braided extension) styles walking around than relaxed styles. This natural thing has been a long time coming.
Currently I keep my hair short but if I were to move to Brooklyn I don't know if I'd be able to resist growing it out again…I look forward to seeing more of Kasalina's pictures!
I live in Brooklyn!!! Representing!!!!
Great Pics!
