Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

By January 27th, 202135 Comments

Hola chicas!

It’s that time again! The images below are of CN readers at their flyyest…at work, on the town, and with the fam. Showing us all that natural hair is not a fad, it’s a way of life…an extension of our beauty! Click on the images to enlarge them:

G Baby @ 10 weeks!
Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Adrien
I had just taken down some twists I had in for a month and was happy to have my fro back. This was after a deep condition with Giovanni Deep Conditioner, honey, and olive oil. I moisturized with Dessert Essentials Coconut Conditioner and styled with aloe vera gel and castor oil. OMGsh it’s SOOOOO soft, I can’t keep my hands out! As I type this, I’m fluffing and petting it like it’s a house pet, lol.Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

ShamiGreen
I wet set my hair on ¾ inch rollers (using B&B moist foam wrap & Tresemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray) and sat under a hooded dryer. Once dry, I pulled each curl apart using Oyin’s Burnt Sugar Pomade. SIMPLE & CHIC!Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Jennifer
I’m done transitioning and just LOVE IT! Right now I’m doing twist-outs with Olive Oil Hair Lotion…also doing the no-shampoo thing. It is really strengthening my hair. For my conditioner I use Pantene Relaxed and Natural but I also love to use the Olive Oil conditioner…the two BEST for me.Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Brittney
I was about to go to the bar with my friends & decided to just wear my hair “out”. I created my own ‘stretching technique for the lazy, where I just brushed my hair into a high bun after co-washing & taking the bun down after a few hours. Then I sprayed it with my trusty S-curl spray (it’s amazing). I slid on a skinny headband, fluffed, and headed out the door. Many men were touching my hair last night. I call it the man catcher 😉Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Deidra
On my way to work. Two weeks post BC.Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!
Swoodward
I am on my way to work and feeling pretty hot. This is a coil-out post morning shower. It’s dry in this picture. I really love the shape and the way my hair is catching the light. My lipstick is a mix of lip pencil and a clear red gloss. Fun.Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Toney (CN’s Aunty!)
I know you can relate, the humidity was driving me nuts and my hair was fuzz city. Wanting my hair up and off my neck…I did a semi-French braid (because I can really cornrow) pinned the braid under, smoothed with shea butter and rosemary oil, slept overnight be-scrafed, added combs in the morning, and then heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it’s off to work I go!

Rhonda
Out on the town with a wash & go and an ouchless headband. I used Mixed Chicks, sat under the dryer for 8 to 10 minutes and diffused the rest to create the volume that I sooo love.

Jennae
My daughter Ja’Naya was diagnosed with leukemia in January, and by June, she had lost all her hair due to chemo. I submitted a photo for Show & Tell last year when she still had a HUGE head of hair ( http://www.curlynikki.com/2009/10/show-and-tell-friday.html ). Her hair is growing back now and her curl pattern in starting to show again, and she’s so excited about it!

The photo of me is from a photo shoot I did last month. I won the shoot in a blogging contest, and it was my first time wearing makeup in easily 10 years. I’m rocking my go-to style: the twist out. I was really happy with how it turned out that day!

**To submit**:

Send in your favorite picture with a caption detailing where you were (or where you were headed to), along with a brief description of your hairstyle, to nikki@curlynikki.com. I’ll post several each Friday. Be sure to use ‘Fierce Friday’ as the subject line!
We need more for next week!

I HEART GIA & JA'NAYA! I can't wait to have a curly girl of my own…. SOMEDAY in the distant future. LOL

Thanks for the complements, I perfected my rollersets back when I was relaxed. I'm not a fan of the black hair salon experience, and prefer to DIY. IF ONLY I could get a braid out or twist out together 🙁 EVERY TIME i try, it looks a mess & I end up doing a wash n go instead. I have watched the tutorials, trying to duplicate the looks, to no avail. Either my hair or my hands (or BOTH) are retarded. SIGH

    @ Adrien: GORGEOUS twist out

@ Bitty Boss: It usually takes an hour or two… I alternate between low & high heat to speed up the process.

@ SaBrina: of course you can! BTW, I LOVE a good ole fashioned scalp scratching!!!

Oh, and Nikki, I meant to say that Gia looks SO much like my daughter did at that age…it's crazy! I have pictures of her with — I swear — the same look on her face in her bouncy chair…lol.

  • Jennae says:

Thank you ladies for all the wonderful comments about my daughter and I. She is really doing well, and she's still a little diva with her short do 🙂

Someone asked what products I use for my twistout. I generally use Oyin Honey Hemp Condish as a leave-in and twist with Bee Mine Bee Hold Curly Butter. And I've been fully natural for a little more than a year.
